Bestbuy had it on sale for $160. The only problem is...it's pc3500 (ddr433) and my system can handle 3200. Will it automatically underclock itself or do I have to do that..and how do I do it if it wont underclock automatically? thx

EDIT: What is the relationship between FSB and ram speed?

hmm god question, but altogether i would have saved up for some ddr, and buy from newegg.com its cheaper

...I guess it will underclock. I kind of always had the idea that you couldnt put use RAM that was over your mobos specs(PC3200).

It should just underclock itself. The FSB and RAM speed are directly related. Raising your FSB will cause your RAM to run faster aswell.

If you mean that 3500 is better then 3200, then yes, it's faster. But only if your computers FSB is capable of running at the faster rams speed, otherwise it's just as fast.

yes your ram and FSB are generally in sync... e.g. 1:1 ratio... some boards allow you to adjust the ratio... so if your processor ran a 133 fsb doubled to 266 you could set your ram to 1:2 making your ram run quicker... (if your ram ran at the supported speed...) its too late for me to explain it well... sorry ;)

yes it will underclock to match your FSB if its set to 1:1 if not it will run as fast as it can... if you have 2 sticks of ram e.g. 2700 & 3500 it will run all the ram at the speed of the slowest..
