Bought 60GB for 400 bucks. I thought it was a bargain because of the fact that they discontinued 60GB and the price goes up to at least 500 bucks or more on Ebay.

I'm gonna check out on Uncharted drake's fortune first and see why this game made such a fuss.

The cheapest i've seen the 40gb is for the equivilant of $560. That really was a bargain if you got it new..

I recently bought a PS3 also, I always knew I was going to buy one in the long run. I actually really like it. Blueray is awsome for movies and Ratchet and Clank is amazing. Drakes Fortune is a little... hmmm its alright. Worth a rent, not a buy though. I would pay money for Ratchet and Clank anyday.

Sorry but it's one fo those things that drive me nuts when people write Blue instead of Blu!>.<
 
There aren't many good exclusive games coming out.

Sure there's MGS4 and Little Big Planet, which look phenomenal, but right now it isn't looking so hot.

I'm the other way round, and would buy Drake's Fortune. Both good games.

Give Heavenly Sword a rent as it's pretty easy to finish in two or three sittings.
 
I dunno if you have a 360 but you should check out some cross platform games if you haven't, cod4 f.e.
 
Burn it! Kill it with fire! No seriously, why? The only reason I would get a PS3 is for R&C:6, Little Big Planet, and DAH!3. Meh.

Uncharted is the best game out right now, followed closely by R&C and Motorstorm. I have Heavenly Sword too and also Asassin's Creed. They are both great, but not as good as the others. This year should really beef up the PS3's game lineup and the BC with the 60GB model ensures you will have plenty of time to play upscaled God of War and gorgeous Odin Sphere as well. Enjoy!!

I am using mine more as a media center than anything else right now. A WD Passport external HDD connected to one of the USB ports gives me tons of my movies right at my fingertips. Awesome awesome times.

And Warbie is right, it is Blu-ray.
 
I agree with Warbie, Drake's is good and rent heavenly sword. I have a PS3 mainly because I wanted to play the multi-platform games and few PS3 exclusives. (PC is my online MP gaming and Wii for with friends) Blu-ray is a big plus. And it can run folding@home. ;)

I don't see why I should buy a blu-ray player that doesn't make the experience any better. Isn't HD enough for you people? Or does Blu-ray dispense weed every time you play it?

HD dvd and blu-ray are both HD video disc formats. I don't get what you are saying.

This is the year of the PS3, 360 has shit. Just look at all the PS3 games coming out.

Not to mention the PS3 interface is a lot better at least it grew on me.

Only thing they need to fix is the marketplace and they still got that shitty cell CPU.

I officially like my PS3 more then the 360. All we need is Home and its OVER!

Umm... Blu-Ray isn't "just fancy talk for HDDVD". They both follow a different path: Blu-ray wants extra storage whereas HDDVD prefers cutting cost. It's also not just Sony's fault for splitting the market. The two initially had discussions to resolve the format differences but both companies couldn't come to an agreement.

All this talk is moot however, since with most major studios shifting to Blu-Ray exclusive, HDDVD probably won't last much longer.

Yeah Blu-Ray is winning the format wars so why not buy a cheap player? On the side it does other things like act as a media machine, plays games, can run variants of linux, etc.
 
It's wonderful how attitudes change, I remember how much Sony bashing there used to be. I sat and watched, thinking it would work out over time when the games arrived. We're not far off now and things are changing already. I honestly believe that Sony / Microsoft have always made mistakes during development they are just more highly publicised these days. The PS3 is great, a tad expensive indeed but nevertheless a step ahead.

Such as? Friends... got that, video chats... got that, marketplace... got that, internet browser (with Divx support etc.) got that... so please tell me what I'm missing out on.
 
About Xbox live. I'm under the impression that you have to host
games yourself, there are no dedicated servers. Is this true? I
always thought for the 60 you pay per year Microsoft would host
servers. It kind of sucks if you have to pay so you can host your
own games on your own shitty bandwidth. On ps3 you do have
dedicated servers, thats why a game like resistance can have up to
40 people online.

Your impression is indeed correct. Microsoft host jack shit in terms of gaming servers for live.

All in all, though, I find Xbox Live to be the better service - which it bloody should be considering it isn't free. There's more content, far more people playing, everyone has comms (can be a bad thing), and the whole friends/messaging/invites system works better. I like the way it links with msn. If you have a bunch of mates and want to get online to play a whole load of console games, Live > psn.
