Let's see... I just waited an entire day for this crap to finish downloading from a Filerush torrent and I'm left with an unknown file format sitting on my desktop. Absolutely nothing opens it up. I'm about to kick somebody's teeth in.

While I do not expect tech support from you people, I would like to know some things before I finally toss this thing into the Recycle Bin. Did my download eff up? Is there something wrong with the source I downloaded from? Or do you think I need a particular program?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's supposed to be a ZIP-file, 546 MB (573.321.373 bytes) large, if anything else, it's corrupted most likely.

Make sure you have "hide file extensions" disabled and then rename the file to .zip if it isn't already.

If it is corrupted, a last resort would be to restart the torrent download and overwrite the previous file, in which case it will likely run a file check and only download what's necessary, saving you a lot of bandwidth and time.

What's the filename?

There are two versions around. First is something along the lines of "Battlefield2Demo-GSC.zip" and the other is "Battlefield_2_Demo.exe" (the exe is the one EA released from their FTP)

If you have the first one which ends in -GSC then right click on the file and Open With... and then choose WinRar (www.rarlabs.com) as I find WinRar can open most zip's without any pain or torture :)

If you have the .exe double click it, and let it sit for about 30 mins (go watch one TV show or something) and then come back and it should be loaded if it isn't corrupt. That's why I hate the self-unzip files... If it's a large file, it takes a while to open them...

If nothing works, redownload it (speeds should be much better everywhere)
