Anyone mind giving me a top 5 of their favorite PS2 games? Then I'd know what to check out. Mainly looking for great games that didn't see too much success. Something like DMC or RE4 are obvious choices so theres no need for you guys to mention them.

shadow of the collosus
okami
tekken5
any metal gear solid

are much games

Socom 3
Okami
Burnout 3
Shadow of the Colossus
God of War

Required : All of the Grand Theft Autos

- Okami (You must play this, best adventure game ever!)
- Metal Gear Solid 3
- Shadow of the Colossus
- FF XII
- Dragon Quest VIII
- Ico (I know you said 5, but this one is a nice bonus)

Socom 3
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
I don't know if you are into RPGs but if you are I recommend Everquest Online Adventures for the PS2. It is a monthly fee though. It is similar to World of Warcraft.

Very much so into RPGs, which is a key reason I got the console. Planning on picking up Monster Hunter soon and possibly PSU.

It is kind of a older game but not ancient. It lost a lot of its traffic to World of Warcraft. Before WoW came out there where people EVERYWHERE! But I played it last month it is still fun to play. I will post a link to the website for Everquest. BTW If you do get the game make sure you get Everquest Online Adventures Frontiers it is the newer version with some updates that are cool. I think it should be the same price.

I never got too much joy out of my PS2. Didn't gel with some of the big-name titles, but then there were very few games I actually did play anyway. Final Fantasy X is an example of overhyped suckage. I also didn't really love the GTA series (though I can actually see how they're good, they're just not my thing). Kingdom Hearts is... ok. Not an instant recommendation because (a. the gameplay is to much whacking things until they die, and doing some dull jumping puzzles b. It's hard to convince people that they won't be treated oddly for "owning a Disney game").

The Metal Gear Solid games do come recommended though. Apart from that, the only game that I've loved has been We Love Katamari. Though I suppose that has social stigma problems just like Kingdom Hearts (it's probably the most flamboyantly gay video game I've ever played).

edit: if you like RPGs, I always meant to check out the Nippon Ichi Strategy RPGs (Disgaea 1 and 2, Phantom Brave, La Pucelle), but never got round to it. I hear good things about them.

Shadow of the Colossus was overrated :|

Nah, not a big Everquest guy. Monster Hunter gives me a Phantasy Star Online vibe, which is one of my favorite games ever. I'll check out Everquest if there's a free month, but that's about it.

lePobz: I had a 360 and I sold it a couple months back. Still need to cancel my XBL account, which is due up any week now. Great console, but it wasn't worth keeping at this point. I'd rather wait for the 65 nm processors to start being packaged and possibly a price drop.

Edit: I foresee a lot of Sega developed games being bought.

Final Fantasy XII
Dragon Quest VIII
Burnout 3
Capcom Vs. SNK 2

You're overrated :|

Zone of Enders 1 / 2
Okami
Manhunt
Urban Chaos
Disgaia 1 / 2 (since you like RPG's)

Hell there's so many games it's hard to list out just 5, I tried to list the games that haven't been already mentioned or the triple A titles (MGS, SoTC, FFXII (playing12 right now and loving it)/ FFX, GTA's, God of War, MGS 2 / 3, RE4, etc etc.)

It's just a bad series. I can't believe the same publisher puts out Tekken and Soul Calibur.

Anyone play Maximo Vs. Army of Zin, Castlevania LOI or Rygar? I'm looking to play one of those three.

Final Fantasy 12
Devil May Cry series
God of War
Metal Gear Solid series
Street Fighter 3rd strike
Gran Turismo 4 if you're into that
GTA series

the list goes on and aon
:P

Tekken 5 is actually a really good fighter, though.

Don't judge it if you haven't played it. :|

Dragon Quest 8
Final Fantasy 12
Metal Gear Solid 2/3
Devil May Cry 1/3
Dark Cloud(Chronicle) 2
Okami
God of War
Gran Turismo 4
Ico
Shadow of the Colossus
Resident Evil 4
Shadow of Rome
Zone of Enders 1/2

There are a ton more, but it depends on what you are into. Try going to gamespot.com and listing them according to their review scores. It can really help to get a better idea of how much amazing stuff is out there for the PS2.

You may be playing games for the wrong reason if you care about 'social stigmas' that may arise from particular games you're playing. Besides for Katamari if anybody gives you shit just say "It's japanese" and they'll be like "OHHH...okay"

I'll give it a try, but I'm not huge on the genre. The VF and SC series' are the only ones I enjoy. Everything else has to be in 2D. :afro:

well my brother play a lot of 2d and he love tekken

I like the tekken and other fighters cuz they are not like genres like fps where you can become good just by keep playing again and again,is really hard to master a fighter game,or maybe I just suck at them

no1: GOD OF WAR!!!
2: Prince of Persia: the two thrones
3: shadow of colossus

You all fail. Nobody has mentioned SOCOM II, probably the best online game for PS2.

Katamari owns my soul right now. I really need to get a memory card ASAP.

Prince of Persia (any of them) - swingy runny jumpy slicy chop-socky slidy backflippy hacky bashy spinny leapy joyousness.

MGS (any of them).

Shadow of the Collossus

Splinter Cell - Chaos Theory

DO NOT BUY KILLZONE!!!

I thought Killzone was okay, maybe worth renting but not buying?
Same with Area 51...
