Took me hours to decide whether I should get PS3 or Wii and finally decided to get wii for umbrella chronicles and zelda. I will wait ps3 for next year.

good choice? yay or nay?

I'd have gone for PS3 if I actually had that kind of money. Just personal preference, I really want to play Uncharted + MGS4 (when it comes out).

from video reviews and gameplays, uncharted look like solid action/adventure gameplay with lot of shooting. it's not in my "must get" list. As for MGS4, it comes out in 2008.

Zelda is amazing. Super Mario Galaxy is even better. Smash Bros. Brawl comes out in February. You made a wise decision.

I would've gone for the PS3, not really fond of the wiimote as a controller and the games aren't particularly different from what i've been playing for years already on the Gamecube. But thats my opinion, if you've tried the Wii out and like it by all means get one.

I would've gone for a 360, for Mass Effect and Rock Band. But the Wii is pretty cool. I don't see a point in ever touching the PS3.

I'm not overly fond the Wiimote + Nunchuck either, otherwise I'd have a Wii by now simply for Galaxy.

In fact I WILL get a Wii for Galaxy + Brawl eventually.

Mario Galaxy is the best game released this year - it's staggeringly good. Everything else seems less special now.

Welcome to the club :)

Great choice. I can't add anything because with Zelda, Mario and UC you're all set!

Don't forget Metroid and Godfather if you're into action.

I'm buying a Wii as soon as I can find one... I decided to get one but alas Black Friday isn't really the best time to be buying anything, everywhere's sold out. However, I require it for Zelda, Super Mario Galaxy, and the upcoming Brawl and Mario Kart Wii.

I've had a Wii since last Christmas and I only have two games for it, Madden 07 and Wii Sports and it's still a lot of fun. So that must say something. When I get a little bit more cash next pay-cycle I'm definatly getting Mario Galaxy and maybe Battalion Wars II.

So in short - yes, the Wii was a good choice.

I am very tempted to buy a wii atm. Zelda and Mario Galaxy look awesome.

Good choice. I almost wish I got a Wii instead of a 360, just for something different. Which is why I'm so very happy that a friend who's moving in with me has one. <3

Mario Galaxy
Zelda
Madden
Wii Sports
Excite Truck

All amazing games.

Blu-ray player
drakes fortune
mgs4
ff13
free online
gta4
dmc4
gt5

Little Big Planet, Haze, Timesplitters 4 (you know it's coming!), Resident Evil 5, Folklore, Heavy Rain, White Knight Story, Silent Hill 5...

Plenty of great reasons to pick up a PS3 at some point, and that's why it's the 1 console I'd take if I could afford it.

too bad they don't come out until some point at Feb. until then, I really don't see the point of getting it.

It's your decision. However, I just hope you don't end up like my friend, who beat his three games and hasn't turned his Wii in about 7 months. During this time I borrowed his Wii and beat these games myself. Zelda is fun and all but it has no lasting appeal to me, not like the previous games did. Yes, there are a handful of great games out for the Wii (including Mario Galaxy which I'm sure is excellent), but other than SSBB, it doesn't look like there will be much in the future. If you're content with a couple great games and an inexpensive console, by all means, the Wii is definitely for you. In my opinion though, the PS3 has a much better lineup for the future as most of the games are from tried and true series'.

The Wii was an excellent choice. It's starting to pick up in the good selection of games. You _need_ to get SMG for sure though.

PS3 still hasn't even really gotten started and it won't for a while. There are some neat games to play on it, but no system-movers yet. Plus, since you own a 360, a lot of the great titles are also coming to the 360, and with more content (ala GTA4).

if u wanted to have a great game console with a blu-ray dvd player, free online ,internet browser,+ more you should of gone towards ps3

COD4 Multiplayer is amazing too.

I don't recall anyone mentioning Metroid Prime 3: Corruption in here.

So don't forget Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Drakes Fortune looks like the only thing I'd touch if I had a PS3. GTA4 is coming out on the 360 too, so that doesn't count. Blu-ray discs suck since they bring the same movies with little details that dont shit matter for 10$ more. Same with HDDVD. Internet Browser seems pointless to everyone here since we all have PC's, AND it's harder to use with a controller, Give me the features of the PSO and I'll compare them with XBL. In retrospect, If I had to choose between the Wii and the PS3 I would choose the PS3, simply because the Wii has no games that appeal to me. The only thing I ahd fun with was Wii Sports, which I lost. :(

I'll be getting a Wii if I end up moving in with my mates, otherwise my 360 is good for now

I'd love a Wii if I could afford one, but the 360 is fine, and it's certainly not a choice I regret.

Each system is a great game system. The trouble is getting people to make games for the PS3 which is about as fun as giving yourself a root canal (read www.innerbits.com for technical issues, look at a few months ago).

Blu-Ray player... 360 has an HD DVD drive you can buy. Yes, it's $170, and comes with one more free movie than the PS3. Each allow you to order 5 free ones, but HD DVD comes with King Kong in the box. The picture quality is starting to improve on Blu-Ray after a rough start with codecs, but HD DVD and Blu-Ray are about on par. No normal person can tell the difference. The one difference is the in-movie experience and HD DVD just kicks total ass in this department. Look online and do some research and you'll see.

Free online = Free, but for a reason. Can't even touch the 360's Live. You know it, I know it, and Sony knows it. They are year's behind MSFT.

Internet browser? Who cares? Do you honestly use it? I don't see myself waking up and going to my PS3 to go on the internet anytime soon. It's a cool thing to have sure, but serves no purpose. MSFT has even asked people that if they can give them a good reason to implement the browser, they will work on it. There's absolutely no good reason right now though besides having the internet on your TV. Who knows though, maybe MSFT gave into the pressure of people yelling "I want!" and we'll see it in the next update that should be announced this week.

More? Like what? If by more you mean Home, then I wouldn't get too excited. I fail to see how that is going to be a core experience of the Playstation anytime soon. Another neat gimmick, but a gimmick none the less.

Call me a Sony hater because right now I am. I call them as I see them. If you say that Sony has done an excellent job with the PS3 you need to take a long walk off a short pier. It's possible that there's hope for the PS3 yet, but Sony really needs to clean up its act. They finally got off their high and mighty throne and realize that they can't do as they want because they have the Playstation. Now they know what it's like being in last place, and it should do some good for the company while creating the PS4.

Blu Ray - 25gb
HDDVD - 17gb

8gb more = 8 gb more game content. And since as you say there's no noticeable quality difference between the two, blu ray ftw.

http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/15/dvd-forum-approves-51gb-triple-layer-hd-dvd-spec/

As to all of the formats approved by the DVD Forum:

HD DVD max size = 51gb
Blu-Ray max size = 50gb

Next?

Also, by quality difference, I was talking about movies, and if there is no difference in that, how can one be a winner? That's why I said HD DVD has a superior IME, and thus is a better format. Obviously though, Sony having the Blu-Ray player is pushing that format a lot more than Toshiba and MSFT are doing for now.

On top of that, Blu-Ray disc read speeds are _terrible_. That's why you have a lot of PS3 games offering to install the game to the HDD or you have long load times. The 360 only has a DVD drive and thus smaller overall capacity, but it can compress that data to hell, and then at run-time it can read it and decompress it faster than Blu-Ray can do a single read. Thus, the size doesn't matter as much.

I sold my Wii after a few months. Apparently I've outgrown Nintendo consoles. :|

You sold your Wii before Galaxy arrived?!

Whoops ;)
