I have a very bad case of strep throat and I've been living off nothing but milk, Ammoxicillin and day/night quill for the the last three days. Anyone see no problems with this or should I start trying to force myself to eat? BTW I don't feel that much different other than the zombie-like effects that dayquill has on me.

Eh - that can't be healthy
at least eat soup - you might get some nutrition out of it

Milk will give you disgusting amounts of pleghm when you're sick

I had strep throat about a month ago, hurt like hell. I drank apple juice and water, later I had Mountain Dew. I didnt eat much, but when I did it was soft things, like apple sauce or pudding. I also slept a lot. After taking antibiotics (sp) I got from the doctor for about 2 weeks, I got better. Also, I bought some really terrible tasting throat lozenges that didn't help.

I can pretty much only drink liquids with a pH of about 7(ie milk, H20, gatorade). Everything else hurts like hell.

Strep throat sucks. I would definitely try to get more soup. And remember to finish your Antibiotic supply even if you feel better. btw, Strep can cause other problems - Scarlet fever (a red rash), acute glomerulonephritis (kidney problem - you'll be urinating blood), and Rheumatic fever(a fever that can cause a cross-reaction with heart tissue). I say this because I'm studying microbiology right NOW. Test next Thursday about different bacterial and fungi and drugs to treat them.

btw, Amoxicillin (an aminopenicillin) is generally most appropriate for Gram-negative bacteria; Streptococcus pyogenes is a gram positive cocci. But hey, i'm not a doctor yet. It still works, it's a broad spectrum antibiotic.

The doc actually gave me amoxicillin for treatment, and it seems to be working quite well. I think the worst of it is over and I can now go off my four day hunger fast.

yeah, it kills a lot of things. i was just saying it's generally used for a slightly different type of bacteria. It can and is (in your case) still used for strep throat. i was just giving some extraneous information. Your sickness just happened to coincide with what I've been studying the last two weeks.

You should have been living off breast milk, that would have been EXTREME!

Milk has the nutrients to survive on so you theoretically could for the rest of your life. But you'd FEEL so bad that you wouldn't want to. Baaaaad shits probably and your stomach hurting, feeling all clammy, etc.

My trig teacher's friend tried it for an experiment and quit. LOL.

Well, I'm just about over my cold. I lost 15 pounds with this thing over two weeks, so I guess it was pretty bad.

glad you're ok.
i hope you aren't utterly dependent on dairy products now :P
