The Korea Military Academy announced the people who had been smart enough to pass their test.

And I was not on the list.

I could always try again next year, but doinig this shit (studying like there's nothing else more important than getting into an university) for another year seems to me a very ****ing shitty option.

Well, I had expected this, since the maths exam was too hard for me, and I made too many mistakes (one or two) on the Korean exam.

I could always try for another university, but other paths simply don't appeal to me.

If staring into books for 10 ~ 12 hours a day didn't cauterize my tear ducts, I would cry or something, like an emo bitch.

Ah **** this.

I don't know why I thought I could pass. Fcuk.

Shit man, that really sucks :/

Sounds near god damn impossible. I think the effort alone that you put into it is really respectable, more than anything I've ever come close to caring to try doing.

go in the parks police or something similar. most people who go into the military end up policemen anyway

Be an American Soldier! The Best Soldier! The Only Soldier!

But seriously, sorry to hear. Join the police or something similar like Warped said.

WTF, I've never been able to study for 10 minutes a day, let alone 10 hours. Well, if your military academy wont accept you for who you are, then it was never your friend to begin with! I'm sure with that kind of dedication you will have plenty of options.

Police University is WAY harder. Probably the second hardest college to get into in this country, next to Seoul Medical.

But oh well. Thanks guys. I guess I could always go to a different University....

But one of the reasons I wanted to go to KMA was that they didn't differentiate the [Social Studies - Maths Type I] group from the [Science - Maths Type II] group. So, I being in the former, wouldn't be able to major in Computer Sciences if I went to other universities.

Well, what can you do? I suck at math. Relatively, at least.

Heh. Thanks. :D

But seriously, there are a plenty of people who study harder than me.

Shit dude, you sound like a nationalist robot and a human all in the same post!

Sorry you didn't pass.

Interestingly enough, browsing through helplife2.net has cheered me up significantly. :)

I passed the aptitude test for the military back when I took it.

I dunno, but considering East Asians in general are genetically predisposed to having a higher IQ than the RotW...meyyyybe his test was a little harder.

You've fallen , but you can get up if you choose to . The question is "Is it worth the effort ?" . In my opinion It certainly is , careers require great personal sacrifices but will go on to reward you for the rest of your life. Theres also something to be said about the intellectual journey that university presents you . It certainly does build character.

On second readover, your post wasn't as partly robot as I thought. It was about 99% human and only 1% Korea is the greatest and has the most difficult tests and I am too small and weak to pass our glorious test'.

I've always wanted to get into Robotics (which is part of the reason why I buy textbooks for myself). but you can always teach yourself something you're good at and invest in that.

Why limit yourself to Korea? There are tons of other opportunities out there.

I live in Hong Kong, and in Hong Kong the local students work day and night. To make matters worse, Chinese students outside of Hong Kong tend to come to Hong Kong, making it very competitive. The problem is, all these students only apply to Hong Kong, which consists of only three good universities. There are tens of thousands of students out there in Hong Kong, but only a small fraction of them are accepted to these unversities (there are foreign students coming in as well).

With work ethics like yours you can easily get into one of the better universities in England, US or Canada etc. Don't be stubborn, there are tons of universities out there. One of them will appeal to you eventually.

Let me give you an example. One of my brother's friends were rejected from all 3 universities in Hong Kong, but he was accepted to Cambridge.

yeah dude, come the Great Lakes area/NY and you'll find yourself in a sea of pussy and good education. East Cost rocks! West Coast for is for druggies/hippies/evil people (no offense)

Now if you could learn to spell 'Highest', 'achievement', and capitalize 'English', you'd be flawless.

Seriously though, anyone who said Halflife2.net/forums was a waste of time probably didn't realize how much their English had improved!

I would suggest you take it again next year. Even though you didn't pass, shouldn't you now be more prepared to pass it next time?

Interestingly, West Point is the highest rated university in the US, and it's free. It's also a military school, if that would be of interest to you.
In return for a no-cost, top-rated education, West Point students are required to serve five years of active military duty and three years of reserve duty.

Is there any way to read that without taking offense?

The US military doesnt get to beat on their own civilians as much as the S.Korean one does, so I doubt that will interest him as much.

Yeah, because basically what hes saying is that the East coast is boring while the West coast is interesting and actually has cool things and nice places. Tell me, what does the east coast have that compares to San Diego? NOTHING THATS WHAT.

Although I wish I live in either one, because they're both leagues better than the deep south :(

Sorry to hear that. Good luck with whatever you choose to do from now on.

lol, its a joke. but TV says East Coast people are serial killers and West Coast people talk on cell phones in movie theaters and get wasted/high everyday

Sorry to hear bro. Become a vigilante, I mean shit you'd be doing justice in the name of your country without the bonds and restrictions of the military.

I wanted to say this but i didn't know what opportunities were available to you. I don't know much about the situation there but it sounds like you're being barred by a lot of red tape and a requirement to keep scores unnecessarily high . I really hope you don't abandon your goals because of math , it can be frustrating but it only gets better as you go along.

I've always wanted to get into Robotics (which is part of the reason why I buy textbooks for myself). but you can always teach yourself something you're good at and invest in that.

The problem with that approach is that even if you're awesomely good in your field, people over here still won't care unless you have a degree from a good university.

Well, yeah I suppose there are a lot more opportunities for me overseas, but frankly if I got into both KMA and Cambridge, I'd choose KMA.

Foregn universities don't interest me that much, because I wouldn't be able to do ROTC as a fall-back option, and conscriptionlegal problems I'd have.

Now if you could learn to spell 'Highest', 'achievement', and capitalize 'English', you'd be flawless.

p Oops.

Anyway, KMA is basically Korea's West Point.

West point which I prolly wouldn't be able to apply due to citizenship issues and conscription legal problems.

In another lifetime. :p

The Middle East. At least, Algebra, which is more important.

Yeah, but you don't see any middle eastern country ranking within 3 in international standardized math scores.

Yeah, great stuff. I need to apply myself to grades a little more. haet homework

You do that. Or you know, you get too old like me to concentrate on your permanent record and live the rest of your life in misery and regret, wondering what life could have been if you had taken the time to STUDY ****ING MATHS MORE.

I dunno.

I really don't know what to do now.

FCUK THIS THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE SUMMER VACATION BUT WE'RE STILL AT SCHOOL JESUS CHRIST I HAVEN'T BEEN HOME IN 3 MONTHS THIS ****ING SUCKS SHIT .

I'm really sorry to hear this. :(

Still, at least your life might not be co-opted by a military machine which propels you into pointless battles with the working class of another country, who in truth you have more in common with than your bourgoise overlords RAFHGHADSJDs

Flaming DFS or whatever is actually quite right. Apply to Oxford University!

...numbers? Just how ****ing smart are you?

Do you only get to apply for one University at a time? Seems rather daft.

Come to a Western Uni. People far, far more stupid than you get in and it'll get you out of the country before NK starts taking Nuclear pot-shots.

You are shooting down all the suggestions like you have plenty of options. What are your other options? What else can you do? If everything was riding on this, and you had no other options, then you should have studied harder!

That's a pity numbers but surely it isn't that difficult to go to Uni outside of Korea, I know some of your countrymen at Glasgow Uni and they don't appear to be hunted fugitives.

Way to be a dickface Virus.
Don't listen to him numbers, just mail him some germs.

I was just teasing him. You understand it however you want, I'm only concerned with what he thinks, but maybe I owe him an apology.

You can't compare the US military aptitude test to the Korean military aptitude test, honestly they're not even close to the same league.

ok I read that wrong. still, you're too young to decide whether you really want to die for your country
