So, I just realized today that the scheduled task I thought I'd set up to run my defrag tool hadn't been working for some reason, so now I'm defragging my nearly 1/3 fragged disk...

Anyways, I'm using IObit SmartDefrag. What does everyone else use here?

**** Disk Defragmenter...

Get JKDefrag.

http://www.kessels.com/JkDefrag/

Best ****ing defragmentation program you'll ever use. AND IT'S FREE.

Once you have it, I'd recommend creating two shortcuts of one of those executables, one with the parameters -a 7 and one with the parameters -a 3

Run the 7 one first. It'll take a while, potentially half a day or so. Once you're done with that, run the 3 one, and then from then on just regularly run the 3 one.

Works wonders.

What does the parameters do? I really want a nice gui for this tho. One I can select different partitions etc.

PerfectDisk is awesome.

My drives never even reach anywhere close to 1/3rd fragmentation because I use an auto defragger. In fact, at any given time, fragmentation is usually less than 2-3 % at it's peak. Unlike the obsolete scheduled/manual defrag which allows fragmentation to build up in between runs, auto defrag prevents it very efficiently and without bothering me. My 4 drives are all clean and optimized at all times :)

Google 'fully automatic defragmenter' ....

I use Diskeeper. The automatic defragmentation uses idle resources and makes full defrags a breeze.

Using diskeeper here. One of the best computer-related purchases I have ever made. I haven't needed to run a full manual defrag in nearly a year, and I'm at 0% fragmentation right now.
