So much LAAAAG!!!

Help me out here guys. Just got the game today, (cost me a pretty penny by the way :hmph: ), and was, (and still is) very excited about playing it.

HOWEVER.
HL2 kicked my system RIGHT in the BALLS! I'm playing this game on LOWEST settings, and it STILL lags on certain areas of the game. I feel so insecure about myself now. Here's my specs:

Windows XP
Pentium4 1.72 Ghz
Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600 XT with 256 DDR memory
the latest Catalyst for RADEONs
40GB of space
Asus X series motherboard
MultiSync LCD screen
and okie-dokey sound

I played the game on THESE settings:
TEXTURES med
everything else LOW, LOW, & LOW
(did I mention LOW?)

and it STILL lags. Are the minimum req. for HL2 correct? or does it just not like my computer?

You should be OK - most people have found that HL2 runs well on low spec computers.

It may be that you are suffering from the audio problem that everyone else is having that is making the game stutter.
