is hl2 coming out this april? everywhere i read says it is. this has probably already been posted but i searched and didnt find anything :bounce:

Things are moving again...I have no idea when it will be out but things are FRIGGEN MOVING. Softimage event, Recent Steam announcement, and a hardware poll so they can optimize their game for best performance.

The poll clearly means they are finished HL2 , they are just polishing the thing. Why else would they do this other stuff. It's all coming together...*fingers tapping against eachother* excccceeeelent

its probly been finished for ages but they are testing and stuff like that... mayb.. i really hope so i, really do. so much work has gone into this game i think valve want to release it as much as we wanna play it
 
well, they're redoing most of it so that there aren't hacks and cheats already when it comes out, at least that's my understanding.

since they're gonna have hl2 at e3 2k4, i'm guessing that it's not comming out in april

We get enough misinformation from Valve regarding release dates, so i guess this doesn't matter.

HALF-LIFE 2 HAS GONE GOLD AND WILL BE RELEASED MARCH 15TH!

Ewww a bath? Why A bath? I hope you mean a shower because a bath is alot less cleanly. Think about it, your bathing in your own filth! (I think there was a Seinfield episode on that) I don't know why bathtubs are still around. It's very primitive. And besides, showers use less water, believe it or not!

They wouldn't be doing stuff like hardware polls if they were'nt even fixing bugs. Does that make sense to you? It doesn't to me. "Lets optimize the game so it runs well on the majority of computers. OH WAIT, it doesn't run at all, it still has BUGS!"

That's why I think they are done the majority of work on HL2. As for baths, nothing is more relaxing than drinking in the tub. (not the tub water you morons) and don't fall asleep...you'd die hehehehehehe

They are idiots, they should have realeased it when they owned the games market last year, then just worked behind the scenes on the fix files to clean up hackers and so forth and updated with steam while we were busy playing it and modding it.

Idiots.

Bud, I don't think you know what you're talking about, nor do I believe that you have done any research at all.
 
the hardware poll is odd because didn't they make a big deal of announcing the minimum specs and how it would run on a really crappy rig? so wasn't this done a long time ago? and if they're doing it now, maybe they did redo a big part of the engine, and maybe it really will be delayed for months more...
 
I think that the hardware poll was to see which level of detail in models and textures they should put into the primary HL2 Steam download. If your computer can handle more (Ie: It's higher than the average spec.), then maybe the higher-detail stuff will be automatically downloaded after. Or something.
 
If you pin your hopes on an April release you're only going to end up getting angry at Valve for missing another unofficial release date. Unless Valve says it, don't believe it. If Valve says it, then take it with a healthy pinch of salt and cross your fingers. As for me, I'm guessing a holiday 2004 release.
 
I think the question should be "when is the SDK coming out? " since it's susposed to be out for a few months before HL2
 
Don't bother getting excited about HL2 until the SDK has been releases. They will release that first.

All I was really saying is that at least things are moving again. There was a long stretch where nothing happened. It was really annoying that we have to sit around and twiddle our thumbs.

SDK... well, they allready had that softimage event so at least you know that's moving too. Who knows...
 
exactly. were at least seeing a few things happen, with the assumption that more will be on the way shortly.

dont trust what valve says in september they said they were just test playing it
 
I hope HL² doesn´t follow the same fate of Duke Nukem "fornever".
