Do we really have to pay $45 for the orange box? I thought it was gonna be $30 or something? WTF valve? :frown:

$30 for three games (EP2, Portal and TF2)? Don't be so cheap. HL2 and EP1 are free. Complaining about paying $45 for a package that includes 3 games is beyond reproach.

Are you kidding? Orange box is one of the best deals ever, period.

Let me be clear from the offset. These games are thrown in free. The cost of the Orange box package is based on TF2, Episode 2 and Portal. Also you'll receive separate registration codes for each game, so HL2 and Episode need not be wasted on your account which already has it. Valve...

Customers who already own these titles will have the ability to conveniently "gift" them to a friend upon official release of The Orange Box.

And lastly, lets be honest here. The value for money with this package is incredible at that price. The content you are getting for that price is astounding. IGN said ""the package which could legitimately be called the deal of the century". I agree wholeheartedly.

I'm just mad because valve said it would be $30 for TF2, ep2, and portal. Now they say it's gonna be $45 for this. :frown:

umm thats a total rip off to the company if it was less then 45 bux....and you arent getting ep1 and hl2 for "free" wth are you thinking? it comes to 129.00 in value for games so thats a great deal for all of those games. now for tf2,ep2,and portal steam might put another package later but for now its just he orange box. stilll 45 bux is not bad so stop whining.

The 30 Dollars was for the Black Box.

Also prices change all the time dude.

... So what? It's still cheap... I don't see what you're complaining about... Plus I never remembered it being stated at $30, but I guess I missed something...

If they were "thrown in for free" I should have the option, as a customer, for them to not be included. Right, that's not going to happen. I am in fact paying for games I already have.

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

We have five games for the price of one. And people still bitching.

in a sense its "Free" because the value of the 3 new games comes up to 49.95

Does that mean that on Steam the black box (just guessing that the black box will be one of the Steam options) will cost as much as the orange box. If that's true than doesn't that make anyone who buys HL2 or Episode 1, after the OB comes out, retarded. I can't say I think this is true, they must have a package with less games cost less right?

I'm not complaining by the way, I'm psyched to buy whatever color box comes my way, seems like an incredible deal.

I'm sure they'll get an individual purchase system going; it just won't be such a great deal, but if say you just want EP2 or just Portal you should have that option.

What?

Assuming that 30 dollars is the price for the three games, than the other 2 are not free( LC is not part of the pricing now). They are 15 dollars which is a ripoff. I already own them, paying a dollar is considered a bad deal.

Especially considering that it is only for online distribution, to which there is no reason every single game can not be offered individually. Yet still, the games were in a 3 pack, 1 thing i really want and two dumbass games only one of which i would pay 5 dollars for, this being Portal, which i will play. Even this was not enough of a good deal for Valve who have just added more games i dont need to this "value".

They are making a bet that all their fanbase will buy the game even if they add all their Source products just to get a damn episode. The first one was actually well marketed. I paid 20 dollars, got some packaging, and played it and they made their money. This is just treating an episode and some refurbished previous games as a new product, not good for the one paying for old games in this set

You Brits wonder why you pay out the ass and get things when you get them, i can see the cause looking at these defensive comments.

This is obviously to push their online distribution which is the way i will go. They have been encouraging it for a while and this is a good way to push it on us through excessive clumping of this bundle

Yeah the price of the black box was 30 dollars.

The orange box costing 45 dollars doesn't make HL2 and episode 1 "free", it makes them cost $7.50 each. Considering a lot of people already own HL2 and episode 1, we shouldn't have to pay $15.00 for them just to get the other games.

The black box was cancelled several months back. :bounce:

There's still the problem that Steam only shows you the tax after you buy. So you buy a game/package on Steam and then get an unpleasant surprise based on your country...

If they're free then why was there originally going to be a Black Box that was going to cost less?

As long as I can buy TF2 seperately on steam. I'm not buying the orange box for 360 and pc.

Im thinking of buying the orange box , im not interested in TF2 but portal looks nice , ep2 is a must have.

Although I'm a bit miffed at having to rebuy HL2 and Ep. 1, the fact that the entire Box costs less than buying these two games individually means that I don't feel ripped off at all.

It doesnt look like they will sell it like that, the Black Box is apparently not being sold, so individual sales are unlikely

Individual sales will come eventually. Steam is all about having flexible purchases; the only thing right now is the Orange Box is the package – as though it's one whole game. That's how they are selling it.

Which, as Glenn explained, is not. Read first.

Ya that price is very sketchy, considering they have no problem offering it in for far less than the price in OB. They appear to just want to have the OB as the main point

What's the matter with having HL2 and EP1 included in the Orange Box? We have five games for the price of one, so who cares? I'll be happy to give them away as a gift.

You know, I don't have my own Episode 1 copy yet. Would you mind giving me your extra copy? I'm sure you have friends who might like it themselves, but if you can't find anyone, I'd quite like it. :D
