We had one of these a few weeks ago. I'm one of the few that use directional keys.

I find the d-pad is easier for me..

I use a tight config around that as well.. examples

END : Reload
PG Down : Prone
Mouse 3 : Crouch
Right Shift : Jump
Ctrl : Walk

and so on, and so on..

I use the arrow keys too! :)

soda was spilled on my shift and q keys, and now i think i will probably migrate to a esdf setup instead of buying a new keyboard.....im gonna try it out in cs today probably.

ESDF feels so dirty. :D I'm a WASD guy all the way. put my fingers on those keys, and the rest of my hand instinctively rests across CTRL, shift, space, and all the nearby keys (QEFRC)

That's all I've ever needed, though i'm not sure how the walk/run/sprint is going to work in HL2.

I use WASD... I used to use arrow keys, but that actually started hurting me hand! I used ESDF for a while since it was the default in Tribes, but I eventually switched it because it wasn't cool.

I think there was a huge thread about this a long time ago and some mod was the only one who voted for arrow keys. :p

WASD for me.

EDIT: Oh yes it was abom, rofl.

it is extremely dirty . . . ive been playing with it for about an hour total now, and it sucks nuts, but it is the best i can do right now, since my walk and buy keys(shift and qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq) dont work(btw, that is what happens when i press the qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq key once). i can capitalize an entire sentence before the shift key comes up all the way....it just doesnt work.

The main problem is that the number keys are now all off by one (that and crouch and walk are uncomfortably small), which is a big problem when i am buying stuff at the beginning, and instead of walking off afterward i reopen the buymenu, selecting grenades instead of knife, etc. better than the alternative though.

and yeah, maybe ill get a new keyboard some time, but im a dirty poor bastard, so my best bet is to clean the keys out. (would anyone happen to know what exactally it is attached to the back of a Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro? it seems to be some sort of chip, and i dont want to yank it off if its gonna be hard to get back on(cant see inside well enough)

i used to be a numpad gamer, untill i dicovered its a hell of alot easier using wasd.

w: jump
s: crouch
d: move left
a: move right
space : forward
shift: back
and some other crazy crap put in there completely unintuitively. his setup was so f*cked up that it actually pissed me off lol.

Arghghg that is so stupid! I suppose you could cope with that if you had never played a game before, but it makes no sense!
