I recently bought Dark Messiah over Steam. It went quick, just a few mouse clicks, type in a few numbers and boom its on my steam account and i can pre-download. No trubble, no walking out in the cold to the store, no waiting in line, no waiting to install the day its released. I can just simply dubble click on the icon as soon as its released and unlocked on steam.

I have bought all the games that are available on steam that i think is worth my money instead of buying them retail. I feel its much more orginized to have them on an account that i can access all around the world. Plus the creators gets more of the money because the stores that sells the retails wont take any % of the money.

If you bought or didnt buy it on steam, explain why and why not. I want to see what reason might cause you to not buy it over steam. Also, are you going to buy future games via steam?

No I didn't buy it. I just quit my job and I'm a little tight on cash..$50 is a little to steep for me right now. I'll probably buy it later on when I have more money, a job, and maybe when the price drops about another $10 or $15

Bought it on steam. I <3 steam.

.bog.

I pre-loaded but I have not purchased it yet. They didn't state a release date anywhere. A lot of places are listing Oct 20 something though (28? I forget).
I'll probably purchase it when it gets closer to release.

Probably get it through retail. Simply because I know it'd take about 2 hours just to download the whole thing from Steam.

When I've upgraded, it's top of my buying list at the moment.

I'll be buying it in the stores when its price drops, I thought the demo was fun... but it looks like it could get repetitive rather fast.

And the multiplayer beta was embarassingly bad, so I don't hold much anticipation towards it.

No, demo lagged on my rig (only source game to do so).

even if I had the money for a new game, I would most certainly not spend it on this.

No, I'll probably get it retail when it drops in price a bit. Too much other stuff coming out soon that I'll need money for and that, frankly, I am looking forward to more.

I downloaded the demo and then it refused to run, not impressed. Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway) it wasn't condusive to buying the full game.

I'm tempted to preorder, but plan on upgrading first. Dark Mesiah was the first source game to bring my x800xt to its knees. Unfortunately this is probably going to be the way of things with Episode 2 and Team Fortress 2 as well.

Have bought it retail (pre-order to save money) as Steam wont take Debit Cards. Im a Uni student = no more credit card for me. Surely Valve should atleast consider taking debit payments. I mean, its their loss if i have to buy from the shops right? (not all the money goes to Valve if bought off the shelf as the shop takes a cut of the sales).

Such as? :)

I dont know any more good games as of 2006, however 2007 the Ep2 package will drop a bomb which i will buy. After that its time for some next gen games, but even those are to far away to save money for right now.

I cant pre-order, it keeps sending me to the Demo Page " Click To Install Dark Messiah Singeplayer Demo blah blah "

help me !

Valve didn't develop the game, they just provided the engine.

yes but they are selling it on steam through which the buyers needs to do it with the way Valve wants to (For example Visa). However they do not support Debit cards which they should.

Valve dont just make games now adays, they are now a publisher, like EA or Ubisoft. However i wonder why their logo arent on any of the trailers and videos, or not even on info pages about the game, it just says UBISOFT but not Valve. And since when did Ubisoft and Valve work together in publishing games? Im confused.

I am buying at retail cause i am hoping the retail version doesn't need steam if it does then i won't buy it.

So god-damn true!

Would've bought Defcon from Steam but no credit card and didn't wana steal mum's £££. Went to introversion and got Defcon (and DVD case) Darwinia and Uplink (incl. case) for £39

:D

Nope not after playing the MP portion of it, or should I say attempting to play the MP portion of it!

I know. But he's talking about Valve getting more of the money when they didn't actually develop the game.

If that is something you consider then I don't think Valve should really be the focus. Either way someone is taking part of the developers sales. It's more like where do the developers get more of the cut? Through Steam or at retail? (i don't know)

No, i will buy it retail

I want the collectors edition!

No steam preorder, no purchase in stores, no pirating it. What I've seen and played has been pretty bad IMO.

That sounds odd, I've made every single one of my steam purchases with a debit card.

Well it's about $10 cheaper than retail here in Australia. I'm still somewhat cautious about buying the game. I might wait for a few reviews first.
