I have socket 754 AMD64 3200+, and my motherboard has 3 dimm slots.

Now apparentl, i can run 1 stick at ddr400, 2 at ddr333, but 3 i can only run at ddr266?

I am running 2 sticks atm (2x512) at ddr333, but i have a third sitting here. Now, anyone know if I would have a chance running all 3 at 333?
Also, if not, would 3 x 512 @ ddr266 be better than 2 @ ddr333?

Btw, i dont want 'try it and see' comments, because i have had trouble with changing the ram on this mobo and cpu, and would rather not change it if its not going to post...

Going from 512MB DDR400 to 1GB DDR333 would improve your performance more than the drop in speed. Going from DDR333 to DDR266 would hurt more than 1GB to 1.5GB memory. I wouldn't fill the slots up. And the limitation with the memory sticks has been improved with newer Athlon 64 models (have to look at the revision). I think they can run up to 3 or 4 sticks at DDR400. My CPU can do 2 sticks at DDR400 and I have socket 754.

Ah, so not good to fill them up? Ok, I have run 2 at 400 without problems before, just since i tried 3 sticks and finally got it back working i have been more cautious.
Thx Asus.

Question's already answered I know but I thought I'd drop in and high-five a fellow 754 amd64 3200+ owner.

Yeah id like to say 'welcome to a worthy club' but the RAM limitations of the older 64 cpus annoys me. If i had the money id be straight on to 939 with 4 useable dimms. :)
