So, You're a Console Gamer?

I'm a 'PC snob' from 10 down to 8 within reason. I enjoy the PC though because I enjoy the custom aspect. For not being able to fiddle with them much, consoles and the games on them are good fun.

I call my friend a noob at some PC games and he calls me a noob at smash brothers etc. It's all good.

I wouldn't buy a console even if my life depended on it, so I guess I am a PC snob too

I agreed with 99% on that article. This part was wrong though:
6. Kids' Play
You'd much rather be leveling up in World of Warcraft or moving up the ranks in Battlefield 2142. That's totally different!
I always wonder why would people would want to buy a console. Oh wow you can wave the Wii stick around!

I tried some console gaming (Not that I own one) but at friend's house, the thing I couldn't get over is, the game pad doesn't give me the feeling that I actually have total control and involved.
Its the KB and Mouse which draws me the most into the game.

PC Snob here, but not that PC snobby.

While I am a PC snob, I wouldnt say I agree with every point made.

Each platform has its own pros and cons.

PC
+ High customizability and upgradeability
+ Community-based thirdparty content for games
+ KB/M control - very precise, good for shooters and RPGs
+ Free online services (except for MMOs)
- Not a unified platform, so games have to be optimized for a huge number of systems -> lower performance compared to consoles
- Relatively high cost for comparable performance to consoles

Consoles
+ Unified system - games are optimized for one set of hardware -> higher performance compared to PCs
+ Relatively low cost
+ Gamepads - conducive to platformers, fighting/racing games, etc.
- Online services cost money
- no (or very little) thirdparty/community-based content

And now the thread can end.

I wouldn't say I'm much of a PC snob.

Although, I hardly know any little console gamer kiddies. My six year old son has a PS2 I got him for his birthday, and that's about it.

But they're just for kids anyway, right? To keep them quiet and avoid all the "i can't install!", "how do i updat my drivers?", "it says i dont have the hardware" etc. Kind of an idiot-proof way of letting anyone play a computer game. The trade off is worse graphics, less you can do with the machine, and looking like a tool if you have one and are over the age of 15.

I'm a pc snob and I could prolly add dozens more to that list.

The articles kinda funny, mostly because I know people who think like that.

I've had both since I was old enough to own a computer. Theres very obvious advantages to either, but at the end of the day I just want to sit down and play something good to relax. And a console is often my best place to get that experience.

That was meant as a little joke. Like "I never fu*king swear" or "I'm not racist, it's the ni***rs who are racist"...etc type jokes.

*sigh*

Oo...Key

Look what I've stumbled upon; Its not biggy like to start a newt thread for, but its kind of cute.
I don't know if some of you probably have it or seen it before, its a Vista style Desktop side-bar from Google, with probably all the add-ons you can imaging.
I find it very amusing. Loved it.

LMAO!

I'm a PC Snob too. :P

However, I do also love my Wii.

That's me. Didn't know this point of view was considered snooty though, I always figured that required a condescending attitude too.

Hey... Every game I put into this hunk has the settings automatically set to the highest, and especially hl2 runs like a dream. IT'S AMAZAZING! (What's amazazing is that my comp was about $2000 dollars. Maybe 1800 euro? Iono, that's a hell of a lot cheaper than any alienware PC, I mean... what's anyone gonna do with 600gb? What's anyone gonna do with 300gb?! And maybe it's a lot more expensive than any console, but in the long run I'll spend less on this computer than on all the consoles you can get in 3 years to play that one game you just had to play that was custom to each. EAT IT! ROLLERCOASTER TYCOON 3 FTW! ;))

Long "Besides that"...

I'm a PC gamer and a console gamer.

Console gaming for when my friends are round or if i'm chilling out on the sofa after a hard day at work ... PC gaming if i dont mind been sat at a PC desk. Pretty much all my serious gaming is moving toward the consoles though. It's just a better gaming experience imho.

Yeah I find consoles better for social occasions with friends. Seeing how no one else has even half of my pc.
