Soldier demoted for posting classified information on his blog.

Well, if he's just speaking out about his opposition of the war, I don't think any of this is warranted, however... I don't know any of the facts, and it was said that he was leaking classified information which can be small significant things you might not otherwise think of, that could jeapordize soldiers, like if he posted what he might be doing that day, etc etc. He very well might have, he very well might have not. Apparently he says he wasn't(or something, not sure what to make out about that, but those officers, etc, say that he does. I'm in no position to be a judge here based on either peoples word. And neither are you, really.

I just hope you don't all make the mistake of automatically taking the side of this guy, without knowing any of the facts, just because of your beliefs about america, and the american army. Really, any opinions should come from proved facts of the matter. I'm sure the army will be forced to prove the classified information he has somehow leaked, and this isn't all just a big anti-liberal conspiracy(at least I hope none of you think that).

he obviously feels strongly enough about this to not be bothered about court martials as he mentions, did he really divulge specific classified information? or was he just expressing his disagreement for the neo con decision to goto war.

I know now in my gut that I have angered and scared very poweful people. Now, I know that I will probably pay the price but I am a human being first, and to me it is then condoning a war crime to stand by and let what I am seeing with my own eyes and other soldiers' eyes take place over here in Iraq. I am being threatened for these reasons that I have stated: the evil that is in the minds of men being conquered by the good that is in the hearts

Punishment for honesty.. do they just want to shut this guy up and fear others into submission of not expressing similar feelings, am I taking sides here..? dont think so, just trying to appreciate what hes saying

Clearly he thinks it is one big witch hunt. It would be nice to know exactly what information he leaked. Maybe letting slip that people actually disagree with what is going on over inside Iraq is sensitive.

BTW this has absolutely nothing to do with Americanism, anti or pro so please stop this line of debate. This is about an individual’s right to express his views.

I didn't read any of the links but if he posted classified info (movements, operations, etc) he obviously deserves the punishment (which isn't anything like a courtmartial it's a rank/pay demotion and a fine.) The Islamic groups are very involved online and could easily have found information like that to use against the troops. If he didn't that's retarded though, but like I said at the moment I haven't got the time to check out those articles.

So it seems, through the news reports that i have read about Bush from the past few years that he is not only going against and lying too the American public but also everything that America is based on and everything these founding fathers wanted from their country.

He promotes torture, murder, kidnappings of minorities, he lies to the American public and to world about his reasons to go into war...etc, etc, etc and he is still in office, after more then a few rumours and reports come out saying that the president vote was fixed in certain key communities and the American people do nothing, yet Clinton was almost kicked out for getting a blowjob?
 
If you read the article stern you would realize he couldn't talk about movement or soldiers deaths before their family has been notified. There wasn't any don't trash talk about the war up there, he has his rights to do that.
