wow stiff sentence for a horrible crime ..the other soldiers face a death sentence ..I'd rather they received 90 yrs with no chance of parole

A steeper sentence than for a civilian, but rightly so, considering he was in a role of responsibility and authority.
 
Do you realize how much it would suck to be in jail for 20 years and come out on Parole?
Imagine if you went to jail in 1986.
Your out now in 2006.

Look at the technology difference and how different the world is. heh would be scary.

My opinion about the war differs from most of you, but I agree. Rape & Murder is the most terrible thing I can think of. It turns my stomach thinking someone can do that. The death penalty would have been the better choice.

killing them wont bring back that family ..it just sates our thirst for revenge but it's not justice ..an eye for an eye and all that ..better to rot in prison with a lifetime full of remorse ..a quick death is just a release from suffering ..something that they didnt afford their victems
 
Yeah I agree, give him some thinking time, 90 years of it seems sufficient. That's a much more gruelling punishment than death. The thought of 20 years imprisonment to me frightens me deeply, seeing the world pass by and change without being apart of it. I don't think you really appreciate your freedom properly without experiencing the alternative. :)
 
well hopefully you'll never face 20 years Glenny ..but not too worry should that ever happen I'm sure some ultra secret organization **cough**hetairia**cough** will bust you out ..I'll even seduce the warden if need be :naughty:
 
well, we'll put you on planning then ..bring me coffee, black with a shot of bourbon ..make that a double ..oh and I'll need my dress prison-breaking-out gear (you know, the one with the really smart visor and patent leather gloves), just leave it by the side of the mantle next to the entrance to the secret slide ...oh and do warm up the Stern Mobile it's been acting up lately
 
He deserves the penalty. I don't really think he should get parole though... but that's because I hate rapists and murderers.

He deserves life without possibility of parole, and he also deserves being stabbed by the other inmates, like they're going to do (cop-killers and gang members may be sick bastards but even they don't support rape and murder of a 14 year old)

Fight barbaric practices with barbaric practices! Man is god! We dictate morality and have the power to take your life! How about not. I've never understood how Christians could believe in the death penalty without being overtly hypocritical.

i feel kinda sad for that guy...he went to iraqi riskin his life ...and now he has to go to jail for 90 years???cas of rape

After all, he just KILLED SOME GIRL, WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING???

Even if he didn't kill her, FFS just the THOUGHT of being raped is horrible. I start squirming in my seat and getting all scared when I think about "god damn, what do these rapees feel like?"

Imagine rotting in prison eating the crappy food and thinking about what you did, for 90 years, as opposed to just being dead.

he and his fellow soldiers planned to rape and then murder an entire family ..he deserves no pity, he deserves no compassion, he deserves no mercy, he deserves no chance at parole
 
I don't feel sorry for him at all, and I think he got 100% what he deserved.

Well, it happens a lot and it's a common problem. People who come out of prison after ages can't deal with the world around them and can't get jobs. There's no system in place to help them back into society.

The only people i feel sorry for is the victims of this horrible crime and the soldiers who have to walk round knowing that they might be targeted by someone seeking revenge just because they wear the same uniform as a rapist.
 
ya but that happened in reverse ..there was an incident where a prisoner was murdered and the soldier in question said it was in retaliation for Jessica lynch (the media protrayed her fighting tooth an nail before she was captured by insurgents ..even though she was in reality she was just invoved in a traffic accident that caused her injuries) ..another soldier confessed killing iraqis as retaliation for 9/11 ..and so on
 
I heard a soldier shot an Iraqi in retaliation for the Reichstag fire.

Hey, there are people out in rural communities that think the soviets are still kicking.
 
Yeee, now that you mention it, when I was volunteering in a 'rest home' for elderly citizens, one guy told me how the soviets are the devil. He seemed to think that it was last year that the soviets shot down our airliner. D:
