So the new omegas are out, and for now I can say they rock! I just installed 'em, so I just ran the stress test a few times and here are the results:

Catalyst 4.12b: 56,39fps
Omega v2.5.97: 76.31fps

Now i'll go test some more.

Amd 2400+ xp
9800pro
1024 400ddr

Everything was on high and 1024*768 resolution.

edit: ou and Hl2dm seemed to run realy smooth, no slow downs!

yes, but remember to remove your old drivers first.

Like use driver cleaner and remove Catalysts and then install Omega?

I've never uninstalled my old drivers (I've always just used the new catalyst installer without worrying about the old version), so what's the procedure for doing that?

Please... BE VERY CAREFULE useing these drivers... Even on a Fresh Reformat... Like literaly just reformat and install drivers... I had issues with them with my refresh rate in windows. It was set and locked on 75 and by god it had to have been like 20!

Id move a window and it would jump!

Well...my comp (a laptop) has refresh locked at 60Hz (it's the only supported rate with the LCD), so I'm not too concerned about that. Can't you just go back to your old drivers if it doesn't work out?

Can you attatch a link? Also, can you send me a link for the driver uninstaller? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't had any problems with these drivers, the best thing is that it comes with multires, so i can configure the refresh rate manualy to every resolution. And use the Driver cleaner to uninstall and then remember to use the cab cleaner within it. And when you use Driver Cleaner, remember to go in safe mode (but you can then install the drivers in "normal mode").

Why is it necesarry to remove the old drivers first, |I really don't understand that, I mean wouldn't it just overwrite the old ones, cause whne I install a new catalyst ot never tells me to first uninstall the old drivers.
BTW i have never tried omega drivers.

It's not necessary but hey, old drivers can interfer, and thus cause your graphics card to be slower.

Yes you remove the Control Center. And you remove the old drivers because they leave entrys within the registery that can cause trouble during istall or sometime else.

Omega Drivers slow down my HL1 performance quite a bit though...

what, from 220 fps to 210 fps?

anyways, the new Omega drivers works fine for me, I just have to restart my comp every time for a change to take effect (changing AA, AF, etc...) wierd...

One time, I didn't uninstall my old catalysts, and I went from my score now on 3DMark, to 5100. It wasn't pretty.

Lesson of the day: Uninstall old drivers before installing new ones.
