Some DL and problem questions

Hey- I bought HL2 from steam, downloaded it but when i right clicked on the HL2 bar in steam and hit properties, it said it was only 838mb. this cant be right as I know the game is over 4 gigs. When i launch the game it freezes on the main menu screen, and only shows a "loading" bar in the bottom right. after that it stops responding. I know some other people are having the same problem, so please let me know whats up. the system I am playing on is fine as far as requirements go. Thanks

I don't know how to solve your other problem but 838 megs is the right number for HL2, so that's okay.

Steam doesn't add in the other files HL2 needs that are shared with Counterstrike: Source and Half-Life: Source, only the HL2 specific one so that's why it only says 838 megs. The whole lot HL2 needs is something like 4 gigs as you say and you can find them in the SteamApps folder.
