Then get ready to redo all your UV mapping after you've removed the front/right side polygons during the optimisation process :)

It's best to get the animations done before you get all that trickery going because it's a bitch if your carefully planned polygun removal has left a little gap you can just see everytime you reload. :x
 
The UMP looks way too lo-poly to me! I'd redo the grip and the frontgrip, maybe even the 2 cooling holes.
 
working on the 3Dtotal.com mini tutorial i see, i was planning on doing it aswell some day, the mp5K is very low poly imHo, to squary, try and look at the guns from 1st person view and make sure they look nice from that angle, for the rest good job
