I`m planning to buy the Silver package through Steam. And Since I`m not 18, I`ll have to use my fathers credit card. The only problem is that he doesn`t trust any company he hasn`t heard of. (how can he not trust VALVe?) So I just wonder if someone could please give me something I can show my father, so that he think its safe. Any awards, number of purchases from steam would be good.
Thanks in advance

(some huge typos)

I'll say this:

I've bought over Steam twice myself, and it's very legitimate, very safe, and damned convenient. :)

VALVe are bound by USA law just like any other USA company, and the credit card purchase service is an entirely secure service ... maybe you could even email someone in VALVe, maybe even Gabe, to see if they can help u out (believe me, they're very good at helping people)

(I just bought the Silver purchase option, btw. ALready preloaded HL2, and having a whale of a time on CS: S)

Really nice to just input some numbers and start playing right away

yea I would say E-Mail Gabe, cause him, and other Valve/Steam employees, don't just delete every message someone sends them E-mail.. they basictly read them all! And they reply... they are the greatest company out there... PERIOD

Some info from big internet sites to show him.

However, the game can only be bought as part of a Half-Life 2 bundle via Valve's online delivery system called Steam. Counter-Strike: Source can be played immediately, but Half-Life 2 is locked until the game is officially released in the shops.

Developer Valve Software has begun accepting purchases for forthcoming title Half-Life 2 on its Steam digital content delivery service, with Counter-Strike: Source being made available immediately to those who buy the game online.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/10/06/news_6109847.html
Valve has announced that online orders for Half-Life 2 via the developer's Steam downloading service have begun. While the oft-delayed first-person shooter still does not have a concrete release date, those who order the game will receive the final version of Counter-Strike: Source immediately. That game's beta has now officially closed.

This phase of the preload will see Half-Life 2's maps downloaded to Steam users in encrypted form - a sure enough sign that the game is teetering on the brink of completion. Last week Valve launched pre-order offers on Steam, and anybody who signed on for one should be able to activate the game the moment it's made available - as well as getting to play the full version of Counter-Strike: Source in the meantime.

And if he reads this, VALVe are definitelly to be trusted.
