You know Bioware, the company's newest game Star Wars Knights of the old republic? Well that game has won over 70 game of the year awards! I bet you never saw that comin! go check it out at bioware.com.

Man, what is it with that game? I played it for like 10 minutes and knew right away I couldnt play it any more.

Hah, go Bioware! I didn't buy KOTOR, but the Neverwinter Nights editor was fantastic! As is their community support. :)

its because just about every game that came out in 2003 sucked total ass.

And fully deserves each and every one of them. Though it isn't as popular, and I still think HL the superior game.
But KotOR still rox.

KOTOR wont so many awards simply because there are twice as many company's that are giving 'game of the year awards' out.

KoTor kicks ass!
But I don't get the combat system.
How does it work?
Is it like Dungeon Siege(Another good RPG) where you click and watch them attack?

You pause, order an action or series of actions and then unpause. The character will complete them in order. If you do not pause and issue new commands before the attack sequence is finished, the combat AI will take over and start fighting for you. Also, if you order a series of attacks against a enemy, any remaining attacks against that enemy will be deleted when it dies.

Probably there are 3 times as many possible GOTY awards now compared to then..
edit/ Whoopsy, great minds think alike ;) /edit

Very good point. Although KOTOR was fantastic in its own right.

I'd say the fact that it reached a wider audience due to its console version has something to do with it, too.
