Uhh..I'd have to disagree with you. Winamp is probably the most common and best media player there is, though I only use it for audio purposes.

I heart Winamp. Best ever. Sorry to hear its not working for you, did you DL and install the latest version? I have 5.1 SS and it works fine. Made sure that you set the windows settings correctly?

ill try updating my winamp, it sucks i might have to try something else. i hate playing music through wmp

EDIT: damn that quinn player does the same thing winamp does

If it does, it's probably not a problem with the quinnplayer or Winamp. Maybe something's up with your sound card.

Try this

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > (Speaker Settings) Advanced > (Speaker Setup [dropdown]) > Select proper speaker setup (I'd guess either 5.1 or Quadrophonic)

Shuzer, we tried that, we tried using his onboard sound and a new sound card. With winamp nothing comes through his rear speakers, it works fine with WMP though. We've updated all the drivers and everything.

(Why is my buddy in rl)

Try this....

In Winamp, go to Option->Preferences...->Plug-ins->Output and double click DirectSound output v2.2.10 (or similar)

Make sure under the Device tab that the correct sound driver is selected and Allow hardware acceleration is ticked.

i made sure that it was the right driver, it was the wrong one, but still nothing out of the rear speakers.

like spud said, everything works but winamp. its winamp, not my speakers or sound card

You know some songs I have don't play through the rear speaker and some do..... might just be the songs you are playing.

I am also using winamp.
