Something for the headbangers

What a narrow-minded and stupid suggestion.

I only use single coil guitars, and every guitar on all our songs have been single coil guitars. They sound great in even the heaviest of songs. Check out Sirens and Titans in my bands thread. There's a very heavy section a few minutes into it, as well as the outro. All single coil.

I can agree that the guitar sounds pretty rusty on the verses, but that's sort of the idea. We just plugged in and played, no adjustments or anything. The only thing we did was pan the bass and the guitar, as well as overdub the noise solo at the end. It was a simplistic approach compared to the huge mammoth stuff we usually do.

This isn't metal. I get what you're trying to say, but there is a lot of heavy music that speaks against it. A lot of the heaviest RATM songs are recorded using single coils. All the guitars on Origin of Symmetry by Muse are single coil. I think the combination of distorted bass and overdriven single coil guitars give you the heaviest sounds, because it gives you a very dynamic feel. I hate the usual metal and rock tones, they are boring, and don't sound very heavy at all.

LawLz u b3 NaRRoW mindeed, I ONLY USE SINGLAWL COILZ !!! Nope, heavy music can have a nice crunch sound to it with humbuckers, witch is nice. I personally use my a Sc and Hb at the same time, it's pretty sexy. But no, what gives you dynamics... is dynamics. It's that simple.

I think you while accusing him of being narrow minded are probably more narrow minded. I mean jesus dude, you cannot tell me that having a crunchier tone makes your music boring. It's playing crap music that makes it boring. Your tone really was shit too, I didn't really listen to the playing close enough to say that your playing was bad at all so don't get me wrong, but I really didn't enjoy the sc distortion. But maybe it was the amp settings who knows.

Another poor attempt at being clever, eh?

I never said that a crunchy tone makes your music boring. Don't misqote me. What I did say, however, was that I find most humbucker tones boring in a heavy context.
Please read my posts properly next time before attempting to put me off or anything.

As with the tone in the demo, I didn't spend a lot of time with it, as we wanted to just record it to see how it would sound. I think the tone works pretty well in the intro riff, along with the distorted bass. It doesn't sound very god in the verses though, but I dig the feel of the opening.
