Say you have a broken (like cracked, scratched. etc) disc of a game or movie, a disc you payed for.

What would happen if you rented the game or movie from Blockbuster or something, and replaced your broken version with the version you just rented, and when you returned it and they asked what happened, you say it came like that.

Could you get a cheap 'repair' that way, or do they scan the disc itself or have some other way of knowing?

I'm not going to try this myself or anything, I was just thinking about it a few minutes ago.. Because that would be pretty cool, you could get cheap disc 'repairs' like that..

....
Interesting.
You have something going there.

Usually the disc you rent has a barcode/Blockbuster sticker/video store sticker placed on it(at least where I've rented them from). Other than that, you could probably get away with it.

A friend of mine did this. Not too moral, although he was somewhat justified since the game he was switching out was destroyed by his 360.

Concerning the barcode sticker, he just peeled it off and put it on the other disc.
