dont know if anyone knew this but when you download a bink video if you save it as a .scr instead of a .exe file and then when its finished downloading you can put in into your C:\WINDOWS, you can use it as a screensaver.

Just FYI, you can do that with exe that doesn't need user input (or with ones that do, sort of).

That means we can download Bink tools and make our own screensavers out of any video!

Thanks!

Its not really a 'Screensaver' then, is it? :p
?? Yes it is. Screensavers were simply things that made the monitor stop displaying the same image for long periods (creating a perminant burnt image). As the bink video is moving, it's a screensaver.

Obviously modern monitors don't suffer from this, so you don't really need a screensaver at all.

So why do ppl insist on having such stupid things? It'd only be good in the office (POSSIBLY) if you're working on/with more then one comp.

its kinda neat to go away from the computer for a while, come back and see gordon walking around the city17 trainstation. :)

well i liked it too =)

Although the HD im running windows on atm, is a bit old and slow, so big files take a while to load as screensavers.

Good stuffs tho :E

If you already have a bink video, how do you convert it?

all you have to do is rename the file from whatever it is to .scr

I have done however it isnt showing up in the screensaver selection or do I need to use a different menu

all i did was rename to .scr and shlocked into the windows\system32 dir and it was recognized
