I want to edit a home video on Windows Movie Maker, but the it won't reconise the format. The dvd comes from a Sony HandyCam, Types of format : .IFO and .Bup

Any idea on how to make Windows able to read it ?

.IFO files are for the chapter navigation stuff.

.BUP files are backups for them....

hah
looks like you dont have a movie
(no movie format according to Shens
try stepping on it a few times

are you COMPLETELY sure that it was recording
like TOTALLY sure? :dozey:

Yep, windows CAN read the movie, when it reads it has a small .IFO menu. But the editing program cant. How do I convert the clips into .mov or any movie format ?

are you using the software that came with the cam, i would imagine that they provide teh editing software with it. If not then google the file formats and see what it says and also look for editing programs in google that support the types. I'm totally clueless with this subject so thats about all teh information i can provide on it. Hope it helps..
