Has anybody actually seen any on-the-floor pictures, footage, gameplay, ACTUAL people playing ps3 or revolution games at e3? I'm not seeing much coverage, just a whole lot of speculation. I think its ironic that everybody is basing their opinions off of just the conference trailers, without seeing the gameplay in action. Today we got a hefty dose of new xbox screens, pictures of people playing it, etc, and all I see from the covering sites is how impressed they are. People got to see PDZ, Battlefield 2 (xbox360), DOA4; and they didnt just watch trailers for them they actually got to see them in action and the vast majority were impressed.

Are you impressed by nintendo and sonys 'offerings' at e3 this year?

I wasnt expecting much from Nintendo anyways, and I was pretty amazed at how good Sony is at fooling little kids and a few reporters.

I was expecting a huge performance by the revolution and i never did find it.. scattered low resolution screenshots dont mean much.

So far I've been under whelmed by both the Sony and Nintendo showings, but Nintendo in particular. Have we even seen anything from them yet? I thought this E3 was supposed to be a big deal because all three consoles were going to show up in playable form?

The 360 impressed me mainly because it was on hand in physical form, it was incredibly powerful, and it's obviously the only one of the three even close to being complete. It's also the only platform that any actual games have been shown on so far. GoW looks astounding, and Oblivion is supposed to be a launch title.

Not only that, the games they had on hand were actually BETTER looking, despite the early builds and alpha kits, the "30% power use" than the small amount of media the ps3 gave. This article gives a very unbiased review of the e3 coverages of the two biggies - the whole 22ghz bullshit I see for the ps3, though AMAZING if it was true, is completely false.

The Xbox 360 is supposed to be ready for release by November. Obviously, they must be closer to completion if they think they can make that date while Sony and Nintendo are shooting for Spring or Summer of next year. Sony and Nintendo have an extra 6 months or so after the Xbox 360 launches until their products have to be ready and shipped out... and you're expecting them to already have nearly complete, playable games to show? That's a bit naïve, IMO.

Also, there's that rumor about Nintendo revealing their big secret(s) tomorrow... well... it's 12:30 AM... so... today.

The xbox was 20 months ahead of the ps2, and the graphics difference was huge. They only have 6 months. I dont think that calculates itself into anything big, especially based upon specs alone. The xbox is delivering :)

Thumbs on the Nintendo rumor, I'll be waiting.

I wasn't talking about the difference in performance... as if Sony could go back and beef up their hardware or something like that. I was talking about the time and money it takes to make a game on these powerful systems. If Sony and Nintendo are 6 months behind in their development cycle Microsoft is at an advantage if people expect everyone to only show the current status of their games instead of what they think the final product will look like... because the developers haven't had as much time with the development kits. As the Epic guys said, they have only had the PS3 kit for about two months. Do you expect playable games with amazing graphics to magically appear in the span of two months?

Your right, it was too absurd of me not to slurp up tech demos and rendered videos.

I'll reserve judgement for when I see the games played - their e3 performance did not live up to the hype their conference gave.

Well as gh0st said, the difference in time between the release of the 360 and the release of the Nintendo Revolution is only six months or so. It's certainly an advantage, but six months is not that huge a gap between the consoles release dates. I came into E3 knowing that Sony and Nintendo were shooting for Spring releases and the X-Box for sometime late this year, and I had lower expectations for them than I did the 360, but I also heard that all three consoles would be on hand in playable form and have something to show. So far Sony and Nintendo have failed to meet my expectations, which were already low. Microsoft, on the other hand, has impressed me. Their is no doubt in my mind that they have had the most impressive showing at this years E3 so far. But who knows, that could all change by Saturday. E3 isn't over :)

Jeese all the way to Saturday? This is one long conference.

Actually now that I think about it I believe it ends on Friday.

Are there usually lots of new stuff on Friday (the kinda stuff that makes your jaw drop), or is that usually in the beginning?

Depends. Hopefully they are saving the best for last.

in the last 6 months they won't be making it more powerful or adding anything new to it .. just testing [mostly]. so the 'advantage' could basically be a higher chance of less bugs.

1. If you don't think Sony showed anything, maybe you should go check IGN or something. Maybe it wasn't them directly who showed it, but we have seen numerous in-game videos of PS3 games.

2. Nintendo is ALWAYS quiet and secretive about new technology. They always have been. I expected to see the Revolution, the console, and maybe just one game. Although we didn't see any games, I thought the fact that they revealed the whole "Nintendo Hits" download system was awesome as hell. Most people think Nintendo could be reluctant to show the power of Revolution, as it might not be able to contend with the PS3/360 nearly as much as they had hoped for. Or...maybe they don't really have anything to show us yet, or if they do, they don't believe it's ready to be shown.

All I know is that the 360 can go screw itself, as the PS3 and Revolution will be making me quite happy next year.

You guys do realize that the reason Sony aren't showing as much is because the PS3 dev kits went out later? And the reason the PS3 dev kits went out later? The PS3 is the more advanced console and thus has taken longer to develop than the XBox 360. It's at next years E3 I expect the PS3 to administer a spanking to the Xbox 360 when the developers have actually got to grips with the PS3 dev kits.

This E3 doesn't really mean a whole lot, it's just introducing the consoles (which Sony were forced into since they didn't want Microsoft stealing the lime light), not showing what they can really do.

You're naive if you think what we've seen so far is an indication of what the PS3 is capable of. Just the hardware inside suggests a lot more power.

We are sitting here approximately 5 months from the Xbox launch. It is easily 12-14 months before the others launch. We are just now seeing gameplay footage and in game video of new Xbox games. We didn't see any of this Xbox media 7 or 8 months ago did we? If we did, it was similar style and quality to the footage we are getting today for the PS3 and Revolution.

If you don't see PS3 or Nintendo footage 5 months before launch, then yes, you have a reason to call them behind in the game. How can people be so simple minded as to not see this?

I'll decide whether I'm disappointed or not when e3 ends. Although at the moment, for a console that won't be out til late 2006 (I think), a couple of shots of the Revolution is enough to appease me. Although I really want to see the controller...

Maybe not, but there wasn't anyone playing the Xbox 360 on the floor, because it wasn't playable. They were playing on Apple Powermac G5s, the Xbox 360 in front of the Xbox 360 booths was just there for show, the lights on them weren't even on.

Nintendo's lack of a huge show concerning the Revolution wasn't surprising in the least to me. They're usually low-key, especially when stuff isn't ready to be shown. Their classic arcade idea is just flat out awesome though...

I think Sony had a decent showing, although I'm not impressed with their games (never have been)....they don't interest me. All of those games were beautiful, they just don't interest me in the least.

Microsoft has easily been the best in show. The 360 is going to be tremendous, especially if they launch with Quake 4 and Perfect Dark Zero....wow. That will be impressive. It truely is refreshing to see a company have their stuff together as well as MS does right now concerning their launch.....now all they have to do is come through. Microsoft is ready to roll.

You'd buy Quake 4 on the XBox 360 over the PC version? That's madness.

I thought Sony showed off some great games myself.

Well, you are full of bs, good thing you know everything about consoles so you can predict if it's crap or not.
