hello all
i have a problem with my SB audigy 4. every time i try to use the mic when my speakers are in 5.1 mode it doesnt work, but when in 2.0/2.1/headphones it works just fine. so wth why is it only working when in 3 channels??? i have the latest drivers.

Check the sound card control panel and, see if Mic turns itself off when you select the 5.1 mode option.

Good Luck.

the mic is only stereo man. It's not 5.1, so it can't record in 5.1

Thats just the first thing that came to my mind.

If you plug a mono mic into it, it's going to record in mono, and it may or may not mix the left and right channels.

I've never even seen a 5.1 mic, although I haven't looked, but that would be a professional mic.

let me know if that helps.

that doesn't make sense though. it worked on my 4.1 surround on the integrated ac97.

What is your default recording device set to? Mic or line in?

I know on my onboard sound the mic will not work if I use optical out (digital 5.1). I don't recall any limitation quite like that when I had my Audigy 4. Do you know of any?

Oh and do you have the regular Audigy 4 or Pro version (has external bay)?
