Sound Card Problems

I recently bought a creative sound blaster audigy zs and have installed it all in my computer it works fine except i cant get a microphone to work. I plug a microphone in but there is nothing when i try to record it doesnt seem to register that there is a microphone in there. But if i turn the on board sound the microphone works is there any ideas of whats wrong.


i run the card on
Windows xp
1024 mb ram
creative fx 5900 256 mb graphics card
pentium 4 3 ghz proccesor
GA-8IP900 Mother board
