Sound card question?

Hi all.

Just want to say that I am 100% excited that anyone of the best games is getting a sequal. I have just one question about my sound system setup. I have an onboard soundcard and a normal soundcard and don't know wich one to use or want kind of performance boost either of them gives me.

This is my mothercard: MSI K8N NEO Platinum Edition S754 nForce3 250GB,SATA,GbLAN,ATX,Raid

This is my soundcard:Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 PCI Soundcard m/1394,THX, DD EX6.1, Bulk

I hope that you guys can tell the differiance in perfomance between those two, the rest of my specs are in my signature.

Sound Cards normally don't give any performance boost, they will decrease performance if you enable like EAX and stuff to just make it more surround sound. I'd have to say that the Audigy 2 has better sound quality but the best thing to do is hook up one of em, play some songs/games/movies and whatnot, then put in the Audigy 2 and compare how better quality they sound.

EAX on the Audigy cards shouldn't decrease performance by very much. If at all.
It's all done on the soundcard.

I'm not sure if HL2 has support for EAX or if they use their own software DSP like Doom 3 though.

ok thanks guys, the reason is i'm asking is that i get my computer soon and wondering wich one I should use, I know normally that soundcard should give the better sound, but I heard that the Nforce3 is quite good, but know I probally run with the soundcard.
