sound cards

i have embedded sound with a 865 chipset on the PERL mobo for a p4 478 processor.

would a sound card make a difference? what is the best one that is on the market?

- Slightly better performance (maybe a couple of percentage points on the frame rates since audio processing is taking off the processor).
- Better sound quality
- More features (ie EAX support)

The Audigy 2 ZS appears to be the best sound card out their right now.

Unless your audio is really bugging you right now, stay with what you have. In order to truely maximize a new soundcard, you will need to have a good set of speakers to notice an improvement.
