Is there a sound equalizer for windows xp, that can equalize every
sound? I have an X-fi card, and software that does that, came on
the cd but I can't find it so if anyone knows any other program or
where I can download the x-fi program it would be helpful.

The reason i ask has to do with my new speakers ( gigaworks T20).
When I play TF2 or CoD 4 the highs and lows are too dominant. In
TF2 the sound of background machinery is overpowering and when the
guns are fired the high pitch is headache inducing. I had the same
problem with the I-trigue 3000, which I exchanged for these.

So, you mean like... A compressor, but as an application?

Who said compressor? He's asking for an EQ.

But, a compressor for evening out all the different frequencies... That's what I use a compressor for, to ensure that all the frequencies in my tracks are balanced...

You are a mad man.

That would seriously throw off a lot of shit wouldn't it? You wouldn't be hearing how you're supposed to.

An EQ is all that is needed to correct the bias of speakers.

Wouldn't you then have to adjust every frequency manually to get the desired 'even' sound? Which is what a compressor would do, but automatically?

That's not what a compressor does.

Yes you would fine tune the EQ to counter-act the bias of your speakers. Then you're done. It's set.

This magical automatic fine tuning you're talking about is just impossible.. It has no way of knowing how the speakers sound to you.

Yes, but from my experience, a good compressor can balance frequencies to stop the overly dominant highs and lows that GrayFox is talking about...

?!?!?! Compressors balance out volume, not freq. Unless you're talking about a multiband compressor, which is overkill for what you're trying to do. Google might find you a semi-decent software EQ, but don't get your hopes up.

But I don't want magical fine tuning. I want a software that will show something like this:

So I can set some frequencies to low. basically the functionality that the X-fi software gives you.

For some odd reason creative hasn't put the software for download anywhere.

You should be able to download the software on creative's web site, I dont see why they wouldn't have it available for download. Look under support > drivers.

Creative are notoriously bad when it comes to support. Terrible company. Needs to go down the shitter unless they sort out their drivers so that they actually, you know, work.

I know that. I said there's no such thing as magical EQ tuning. That's why I'm telling KA he's wrong.

I did that already, to make sure I have the latest drivers,
unfortunately that software isn't there.

I don't get why there isn't any EQ for windows, I mean it's such a
old and straightforward problem. There are many programs for niche
problems but no EQ? Hell Windows XP should have a EQ by default if
you ask me.

Most people aren't aware that consumer speakers have a bias, or simply don't care. And EQ might confuse some people. Windows always cares about being user friendly and shit. Also, this would be more of a thing that all audio drivers should have, not windows.

I have the X-Fi installation CD, I'll upload it to Rapidshare tomorrow if you want.

(400mb 7zipped, jesus christ)

Sure. But seeing as it's so large won't it take way to long and be to much of a hassle. besides I don't think rapidshit can handle files that large.
Can you look on the CD and see if you can find the specific files that install the console.
