Sound options switching automatically in steam games

Hi, I have an annoying problem when playing Steam games. It started happening like two months back. I always play my games in windowed mode because I like to tab out a lot. But two months ago this problem started occurring. Whenever I tab out of the game, the sound settings switch to 7.1 speakers instead of 2 speakers, which seriously messes the sound up. So if I'm bothered enough when playing, each time I tab out and then in I have to go into options and set the speakers to 2 again. Does anyone know how to bypass this problem so the damn sound settings won't change automatically? It's a real pain in the ass. :flame:

That's a crazy problem.

Do the games start in 7.1 speaker mode or does it only switch to 7.1 mode after you've alt-tabbed for a bit?

This is a known issue amongst many Steam users. There's yet to be a fix.
