Sound playing slower than normal, distorted

I have run into a strange problem where the sound on my computer is distorted like something you would hear when the bass is turned up too high, but the sound is also playing slower than it should. I have already tried disabling hardware acceleration and that didn't work. I don't believe it is the speakers because of the way the sound is playing a little slower than normal.

also....speakers can't make the sound come out "slower" necessarily....

i had sorta the same problem, i use itunes(which i have loved until v7) and when i updated to 7 if any other noise played itunes would play slow and distorted and jumpy. had to go back to an 6.5 ithink to fix it.
