sound problem and another one

i can only hear people when they're standing in the same room, like i cant hear anyone talking on televisions or the like. its really annoying having subs on.
also when i go to change any of my advanced video options and press apply or ok the system crashes and the options stay the same when i restart the game.
it's annoying cos i've cleared the games but felt i missed a lot so i wanna fix these changes before i play it again.

I recently was able to fix my memory read error, and I re-started playing the game again. I've been having this problem aswell. Anybody know if this can be fixed?
