Sound problem with steam games

When I go underwater and come back up, it still sounds like I'm underwater. They only way I could get it back to normal is by alt+tabing (tabing even a word.)

Has anyone ever have this problem and/or how did you fix it?

Tried enabling/disabling EAX/A3D?
Also try upgrading your drivers.

I used to have a similar problem (also when noclipping off lifts when I got stuck) but it didn't happen often enough to be really annoying and it went away when I changed soundcards.

now that you mentioned it, I haven't update my sound drivers in a LONG time. i'll do that and see if it works! =)
