Sound Stutter - only at certain parts

Hello all, I downloaded half-life 2 at 12 am in its release in november, and ever since then I have had ERROR after ERROR! While having defeated most of them, I still have a couple. The most troubling of these errors is sound stuttering. Happening only after a certain part in the game, I'm completely baffled. After I enter the sewer tunnel to go up behind the two MP's with the mounted machine gun, it starts. I cannot figure out what it could be. I have Sound Blaster Live! 24 bit card with updated drivers. I'm running cat4.12, 9600xt...I just don't know! I have my sound card moved within 2 pci slots of my vid card, i didn't want to move it right below because it would block heat dispersion from the fan/heatsink I thought. Anyways, any suggestions? I'll leave my specs below.


ATI 9600xt 128mb non-overclocked cat4.12 drivers
SoundBlaster Live! 24bit
AMD 3200+ 400mhz FSB
Soyo Dragon Plus v2.0 with VIA kt600 chipset
Western Digital 60gb HD
1024 mb of kingston pc3200 memory
Thermaltake 480w psu

All of my Hardware is pretty new, and is working great. HL2 is the ONLY game I have any problems with. Thanks again!

yes contact valve and tell them . they say these stutterings are texture thrashing.

Do you have AudioHQ? If so, look in the EAX control panel and set all effects to off.

I have turned off eax environmental sounds in my sound controls. Is there something about directx9.0c audio acceleration i can turn off?

you could try turn hardware acceleration off for sound card

control panel-sounds and audio devices-audio-advanced-performance

I all of a sudden stutter/freeze at the same exact point now. I get to the guards gun and start shooting everyone. As soon as I turn to the right to shoot, bam - freeze up. WTF..
I played through first time with minimal problems.

Its a Source bug unfortunately, all we can do is wait for Valvey to fix it!
