sound suddenly gone !?

Hi ,

I'm having this little anoying sound problem when playing cs:s.
Sometimes I can play hours without it to occur , other times it's just after a few minutes
In the middle of a round , suddenly the sound just stops. I can't hear a thing anymore. No gunshots , no footsteps , no voices ... nothing.
Weird thing is ,when i exit cs.s , my whole pc has been "silenced". NO music / sounds play can be heard anymore :s

Only thing that helps is to reboot , then everything works fine again.

Has anyone experienced this same issue before ? And is there a solution for it ?

Are the cables loose? check the back of your computer...

I got this. Rebooted and everything was fine since, hasn't happened again. But i have moved my computer around so there may have been a loose wire i might have knocked into place or something.

Maybe try new drivers for your sound card?

I don't think it s a loose wire.
I usualy play cs.s with headphones on , but when the sound "drops" (or how do you say it in english ?) nor my headphones , nor my boxes work anymore.
It never happens when playing an other game (not even in hl2) so i wonder if its a known bug or so ??

btw : I'm about to reboot right now because sounds gone again :s

OMG i had that, but not with CSS. I had it where if i listened to music, and stopped it to do an MSN audio conversation, EVERY single sound would go off. Then on reboot the same would eventually happen. Even when i ended the msn audio conversation, i tried to play music but nothing would happen.

I cant quite remember what was to blame, but im pretty sure it was a mixture of drivers/windows update

It happens to me in HL2: DM. I don't have a clue why. Works fine in CSS and normal HL2 and every other game I have. Just DM it randomly mutes everything. At first I thought it was just my PC being its randomly annoying self and muting, but it wasn't.
