Ok, whilst in BF2 i get some pretty bad sound troubles/errors. I've only heard them in BF2, other games work fine (CSS, Guild Wars, NFSMW etc etc)

The errors usually start when the map has finished loading and just as the character select screen loads it kinda freezes for a second and some wierd robotic like sounds can be heard through the speakers. Then the game is generally fine for a while. A short while later usually the sound starts messing up and playing random sounds from BF2 and random "robotic" sounds. It also plays random parts from a song that is paused/stopped in winamp (if it is open).

I don't know if this is a problem with BF2 or my sound card. Seeing as it only happens in BF2 i'm guessing it's a problem with BF2. Whilst in-game somebody else said they'd be having these kinds of sound troubles too, which gives me more reason to believe somethings wrong with BF2.

Anyone know a fix? Anyone else get these random noises? I made a video of the sounds on my phone if anyone wants to hear what i'm talking about.

Thanks for any help :)

What is your sound card? There are a lot of sound cards that Battlefield 2 doesn't support. I used to have to run the games sound in Software mode, because my SoundBlaster Live! couldn't run hardware acceleration. I have an Audigy 4 now and it works very well with Battlefield 2, and my other games.

But yes, Battlefield 2's engine kinda sucks :/

I have an Audigy 4. Had it since last Christmas. Worked perfectly with BF2 until last night when the problems started. I thought a restart of BF2/computer would fix it, but nope, it didnt.

Thats weird then. Have you installed and new drivers or changed anything that could have done something with the sound? Installed any new patches for Battlefield 2?

Installed latest drivers quite a while ago and afaik theres no newer versions out. I only have the 1.3 patch for BF2 which i installed when it was released. I've done nothing to my computer which may have caused it, it just randomly started happening last night.

Try closing down as many background applications as you can. Free up as much resources as you can for it. I know I used to have to do that before I got a good amount of RAM.

It's got nothing to do with that. My PC is running the same as it always has as far as i know.

I'll try reinstalling BF2/sound card drivers tomorrow/when i get chance.
