Source games crash/freezes on XP, works PERFECT on vista, wtf?

Whenever i use any XP OS (ive tryed both PRO and Media Center) the game locks up and crashes. However, if i use Vista the game runs perfect with no crashing or lock ups at all, i even get more FPS which means i can run the game on full resolution (which i cant on XP). The problem is that i dont own Vista, i only had the trail verion, i have tried re-installing it so i can use it again but somehow it refuses to connect to internet after i re-installed it. So i was forced to go back to XP and i have this problem, i even had this problem before i had Vista.

I havent change any hardware at all, i use the same drivers as i used on Vista. How come Vista runs it better and faster then XP with the same hardware???

Yes im using the XP drivers for the Radeon, and when i use vista i use the equielent for Vista ofcorse.
CSS worked when it first got released, but then for some reason i installed vista and it worked, then after 30 days i went back to XP and it started messing up, then after a while i went back to Vista and it worked fine, and now im back to XP and its messing up again. I cant go back to Vista because the internet provider installer wont work (compability issues). This is strange because it worked the earlier times i used vista, but now it just decided not to work, thats why im forced to use XP again.

What's strange about that? From the sounds of it, you had a 30 day trial, and as usual, Microsoft had added web verification / logging. Your trial ran out, but for some reason you think that re-installing it will somehow fool the web server that verifies your install? Are you high? That is what the web verification is for - to stop people trying to get around things like the 30 day trial.

I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft even used Vista to put something in the couple of MB it hides from re-formatting (oh yes...to "remember install settings" apparantly) to screw with XP, so you "decide" to buy Vista. I'm actually waiting for the "oopsy!" "updates" from MS to slowly degrade XP and give it stability issues to get more people to the DRM infested, CPU cycle wasting POS that is Vista.

I've managed to get round Camtasia Studio 3 30-day trial. Or is Camtasia not as good as Microsoft?

Whoopty woo. I didn't say it couldn't be done. But he hasn't tried to at all. He's just doing he normal steps, and (not surprisingly) getting told "no" by MS.

Yes. Yes it is. They put a X day limit on trials (instead of offering you a half working version), so that after the X days are up, you have to BUY it if you want to keep using it. Circumventing that limitation is stealing. Stealing is piracy. So boo hoo. If you want to use Vista (and really, who would) then BUY IT you leach of society, instead of trying to re-use / crack the trial.

as for the poor guy having problems with his OS. . .just format your drive (or get another one) and start from scratch. You might also run a check for spyware/adware with either Ad-Aware by Lavasoft or Spybot. Both are free.
