Steam has released another update for the Source engine and dedicated server.
Updates to the Source Engine and Windows Dedicated Servers have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:[br]
[br]
Source Engine[br]
<ul >
[*]Fixed Garry's Mod failing to spawn new entities (was failing due to &quot;userinfo&quot; command change)[br]
</li>
[*]Fixed background music playing after joining a game if the game was launched via a desktop shortcut[br]
[br]
Source/Half-Life 1 Dedicated Server[br]
<ul >
[*](win32) Fixed &quot;Steam Validation Rejected&quot; error when connecting to a game server
Was starting to wonder why some stuff was updating.

Glad they fixed Garry's Mod and the validation rejection which I got on the odd occasion.

when are we getting the listen servers back ?

valve fixing something that wasnt their's? wonders never cease - maybe an indication that gmod will be bought by valve?

Perhaps an inditcation that Valve are smart enough to know they'll be eaten alive if they allow a popular mod to be nerfed for longer than a week because of an update they released?

Cheers to the Berrymeister for the heads up. You're a champ.

The problem was at their end.

A update is always a good one. Nice.

I'll eat my (lovely chocolate fudge) hat if that happens.

If I where Valve I'd expect Gmod to sort out their own damn problems. Buggfixing is an important thing to learn :P

Edit:

Well, Valve have done so in the past and Gmod is the most popular mod right now (though I doubt it too)

The problem is entirely Valve's fault though. Why should GMod have to sort it out when it's not their fault and they're therefore less likely to know what the hell went wrong in the first place? Bugfixing is important, but only your own bugfixing matters :P

because Valve aren't under any obligation to ensure that people's mods remain working on their engine at all times. Updates that fix the engine often break mods.

Yeah, but it's their duty to fix them eventually. They'd be seriously shooting themselves in the foot if they didn't feel an obligation to the mod community. They've said time and time again that they value the community immensely, so what makes you think they don't feel their obligation? And evidently they do feel it, or else they wouldn't have fixed it!

After that entire backstabbing (with a large caliber machinegun might I add) crisis with JBmod, I think Valve will think twice before letting in such a narcisstic person as Garry.
