Since Half Life 2 does not work anymore on both my computers I decided to try and resolve the problem. I thought it might be the source shared securom.gcf so I renamed it and restarted steam.

Size On Disk: 1.95 MB (2,048,332 bytes)

refreshed gcf..
source shared securom.gcf
Size: 1.94 MB (2,040,304 bytes)

???

Still didn't fix the problem though

Set it at read-only

What do you mean read only?. Im just curious why a file has changed in size when I renamed it and forced another download.
