Ok so its not just me, this is the second time ive installed Maya and this is also the third time ive installed the SourceSDK Maya Importer. May i ask whats wrong with it? The skin weights are never truly correct as i have proof here that its not working properly.

I simply wanted to import Alyx to create some new animations for her. Ive no problem with animation, but when it takes 57 minutes to import and build, then 10 more minutes to apply these so called 'skin weights' of Valves only to findout that i still have alot of work to do to make it work, it just sets me off a bit, the importer should work right away. Waiting for it to build i have no problem with but when the official importer doe not work very well, theres something wrong. Check out the attachment, thats simply jsut a transition about -20 of the main pelvis bone (which happens to be the control point as well, figure that one out). This is hilarious.

A kid who has no MEL scripting experience at all, made the best MD5mesh and MD5anim model importer ever, and Valve cant create an importer for Maya to their own file extension. Its kind of sad really...

What do i have to do to the scripts to make it work? Has someone figured this one out yet?

I've not encountered any problems of this nature using Maya, but I may suggest that you take a look at the valve-erc forums, as both Prall and Dodger are very knowledgeable in the maya exporter. You may also want to check on http://modmap.ch for solutions, or possibly post on the forum. It's not very active, but it's Prall's site, and he keeps an eye on the forum.

wow this might help me a lot with learning to get stuff from Maya into Source! Thanks!
