So, I'm totally addicted to the space stage of Spore, and I was wondering if there were any existing (or planned) games that are similar.
Likes:
-Finding systems with a planets that provide a good array of resources
-Claiming a single planet effectively claims the whole system
-Colonizing and terraforming planets in general
-Establishing alliances and trade routes
-Being able to focus on economic and diplomatic relations with minimal military effort
-Categorized rewards system that unlocks more powerful tools for the things you focus on
Dislikes:
-Allies do not automatically go to war with you - they only attack once
-Limit of 3 trading routes
-No automatic resource trading/market system
If I had any clue how to write a game, I'd do it myself, but unfortunately my programming knowledge is limited to windows forms applications, web sites and databases.
Are there any games that include the "likes" and rectify the "dislikes"?
EDIT: I used to play the text-based MMO Federation (http://www.ibgames.net/) and I loved it - but I would prefer a non-MMO as I prefer to not pay monthly fees, and I end up sinking way too much time into MMOs.
