here in my country soap operas are the mainstream

mexican soup operas are the most ridiculous thing ever
exces of makeup
a shakespier like (supposedly) plot
retarded acting
and everybody is a super model,all the mens show abs and pecs,and womans allways show a lot of boobs

the best soap opera I hav saw was a colombian one that was very famous in latinoamerica,so famous that there is a mexican "remake" (so ridiculous that it make me wants to nuke them),it was called betty la fea, and the diference from the rest of the soap operas was:
it hav a realistic plot
the characters felt like real people
it was funny,but in a realistic way
infact it was something serious,not some stupid over dramatic stuff but a realistic drama

the plot was about a ugly secretary that work in a fashion company and falls in love whit the president of the company(off course later she become in a hot woman) but the plot was really well done

my mother once told me "colombian soup operas are the best cuz they are more like the daily life" and is true,and the sucess was so big that now the soap operas of my country are becoming more "daily life"
I heard it was even transmited in china
and betty la fea was the only and last soap opera I ever watched completly
