Unfortunately my year and a half old klipsch 5.1 promedia speakers are dying. They are emitting a staticy ringing noise and eventually just stop playing sound and the staticy ring gets much louder. The sub works fine still.

With that, I need to find a new set of speakers and I don't think theres any way to fix this. Should I go with Klipsch again or the creative gigaworks? Has anything new come out recently that might be worth picking up?

sounds like its just a bad connection somewhere, you should be able to fix it if you can find it.

i already checked all of the connections...took every cord out and plugged it all back in.

It is fine for a few seconds or up to a few minutes then the staticy ringing gets much worse and eventually the sound cuts out and leaves only the staticy ringing...I can still hear the game/music faintly. If it were a bad connection I think it would be more of a constant failure type thing. Not to mention all of my speakers are like this.

I was looking at picking up something a bit more expensive. My soundcard is an audigy 2 ZS.

I currentply have a klipsch 5.1 promedia which costed $350 when I got it.

I picked up a pair of $170 headphones since I figure that will be best when I move into my new house so I don't blast everyone away with my sound and I can play late into the night.

They appear to be pretty dang good too.

Yeah...plugged it into my mobo sound and it is doing the same thing.
