Hello everyone.

At random points in Half Life2, the sound loops, everything freezes, and I either get a memory read error and can quit the game, or I get no message at all and have to do a hard reboot.

The thing I don't understand is....I got a good solid 6 hours or so (up until the Sandtraps section) with the game. Unlike other posts I have seen, where it's an error people have always had with HL2, this has only started happening recently. When I got my first memory error message, I assumed it was a one off, since it had been fine up until this point.

But now, I get it all the time, both in Hl2 and in Counterstrike: Source. Why has this only started happening now? I hadn't made any changes to the PC in that time. My specs are: (NOTHING is overclocked)

1 gig of ram
AMD Anthlon XP 3000+
GeForce FX 5700 LE graphics card.

Perhaps it's that patch...

I was and am still getting the memory error crashes.
I was actually able to get to work flawlessly one day and played for about three hrs. with no problems what soever. But then I try playing the next day and within minutes it crashed with the memory error message.I believe it has something to do with steam doing something to the configuration of the game files. But as Ive said in previous posts Im simply going to wait for a patch that actually works. My best advice play something else in the meantime
