This was the best direction for them to go in. I don't mind Sam Raimi as director, but they clearly needed a new writer. The script for the third film wasn't that great.

Ain't gonna fly if Raimi isn't directing/writing along side. Him and his brother did the scripts for the movies, so this could actually be a kick in the butt for people that likes this franchise.
