Today, 4 people were arrested on charges of static spying and communications with a north Korean agent.

Police caught 1 person with a data disk, containing instructions and an 'oath' swearing loyalty to the 'great comrade general'.

They were high ranking officials of the Democratic Labor Party, the most leftist party in Korea, with about 7.8% of seats in the National Assembly.

One was even an ex-head of the DLP.

This, if they are convicted, will be the biggest spy capture in 10 years' time.

The prosecuter's office as well as the National Intelligence Service are now heavily investigating their prior activities, for they are suspected with having given classified information to the north, and one for 20 years.

Now, the DLP, they call themselves the "Working Men's Party and Hope", but I call them "The Puppet Party of the North".

I call Bullshit.
Probably planet evidence.

Los Alamos has a history of high-profile security problems in the past decade, with the most notable the case of nuclear scientist
Wen Ho Lee, who was charged with 59 counts of mishandling sensitive information. After he pleaded guilty in 2000 to mishandling computer files, the other charges were dismissed, he was freed after nine months in solitary confinement, and a federal judge apologized for the government's treatment of him.

In 2004, the lab was essentially shut down after an inventory showed that two computer disks containing nuclear secrets were missing. A year later the lab concluded that it was just a mistake and the disks never existed.

except knowing your government and it's propensity to have knee jerk reactions they'll be executed before anyone can determine whether they were spies or people the government wanted "silenced" ..they were probably just handing out AOL disks

why would a spy be in one of the already not welcome parties?

i smell bullshit!

Yes, I'm sure a lot of Spies dress like Kim Jong Il, too.

1, we haven't executed anyone in 15 years. We just send spies to Samchung Education Facility, with the rapists and serial killers.

2, They could have easily declared the DLP illegal if they wanted them silenced.

Now, the Public Security Division of the KNPA aren't saying much, but they've said that they wer in violation of NSL-8-1, and are looking for other crimes, such as Article 4 and so forth.

Charged with:
Article 8: Meeting, Corresponding and etc.

1) Up to 10 years in prison for those who confer, correspond, or communicate using other means with anti-state groups, members or those under their control, being aware that their acts will endanger the national security and the democratic freedom. (Revi sed 91.5.31).

Looking out for violations of:
Article 7: Praising or sympathizing

1) Death or up to 7 years in prison for those who praise, encourage, disseminate or cooperate with anti-state groups, members or those under their control, being aware that such acts will endanger the national security and the democratic freedom. (Revised 91.5.31 ).

Article 3: Forming anti-State groups

1) Those who organize, or join, an anti-State group shall be punished as follows:

Death for the chief instigators or organizers.
Death or Life Imprisonment for leadership cadres.
Minimum 2 years in prison for lesser members.

And internal disorder crimes, if they sent the disks to anyone.

haha numbers... your laws are funy!

death to anyone against democracy and freedom! doesn't it sound ironic?

wow it's the same penalty if you lead a revolution or if you just happen to support it ..so cries of "viva la revolucion" get you a date with a firing squad

Well, no.

Bloody Democracy.

1, technically, yes. But the prosecuters office doesn't prosecute people for crying out stuff. They aren't that stupid, prone to idiotic stuff from time to time, but not exactly stupid.

2, We don't give criminals the honor of death by rifle, we hang them.

3, hehe, yeah, thats what I thought too, when I first heard the title.

I just saw a news report, and woah. 7 in all arrested, 6 are high-up politicians, and they've got warrents for 20+ student group members, all part of an illegal student group, hanchongryun (wiki it, if you want to know). They had been wiretapped by the police for over a month.

This could be the 3rd "People's Revolutionary Party incident".... (wiki it,)

unless there was actually a revolt/protest/riot ..then they could pretty much make mass arrests ..and the penalty is either death or 7 years ...you dont find that odd that just associating with a group is grounds for death? In canada for example the courts just struck down an anti-terrorist law that stated that a persons political affiliation could be admissible in court because it infringed on human rights (the right to association) ...I guess that doesnt exist in your neck of the woods

much more humane :rolling:

the right to association ..ah democracy what a wonderful thing you are ..that is, when you're actually a democracy and not fascism masquerading as democracy

The right to association is only hindered when it infringes upon others' rights, such as basic security. Also, a riot/revolt would entail a State of Emergency and Martial Law, so mass arrests would not have the NSL activated, for in such a state, everything but the constitution is halted.

much more humane :rolling:

No, the other way around. :p

Rehabilating rapists, ain't that good?

There are very good reasons why Hanchongryun is banned.

One, because they disseminate viral ideologies, such as the Juche idea of Kim Il-Sung, Kim Jong-Il's father.

And Two, because:
